A casino restaurant that wants families to walk in through its own front door is working slightly against type, and Match Eatery & Public House leans into it. The Point Edward sports pub sits inside Starlight Casino but keeps a separate street entrance, so a table with kids can order fish and chips without ever crossing the gaming floor. What they find is a full-service pub built for company — wall-mounted screens, a long roster of comfort-food plates, and a seasonal patio that puts the St. Clair River and the Blue Water Bridge in the frame. The casino supplies the address and the foot traffic; the pub supplies nearly everything a family or a group of friends actually came for.

The centre of the menu is unapologetic pub cooking. The Reel Deal Fish & Chips anchors it — ale-battered haddock with house tartar and slaw — alongside the Ultimate Mac & Cheese, Game Day wings, and burgers that run from the Game Set Match Burger to the Twin Car Hop sliders. The sandwich list leans hot and specific: a Blackjack Chicken Sandwich, a Nashville hot chicken, a Slow-Braised Beef Dip, a Better with Bacon poutine, a Spicy Hawaiian pizza. A separate group and party menu reaches further than the everyday board suggests, into Bistro Steak Frites with green peppercorn sauce and garlic-parmesan fries, a Seared Tuna Basmati Bowl with coconut rice and ponzu, and Garlic Shrimp Alfredo on tagliatelle. Weekend brunch opens the doors earlier on Saturday and Sunday, stretching the same easy format across the front half of the day and handing the riverfront a quieter shift before the first game goes up on the screens.

What holds it together is a decision to behave like a neighbourhood pub that happens to share an address with a casino. The separate entrance, the kids' menu, the feature for every weeknight and the patio over the river all point the same way — toward the family from two towns over as readily as the group killing an hour before the tables. None of it depends on the casino to work; the casino simply widened the doorway. Match is less a gaming-floor amenity than a Point Edward pub with an unusually good view of the water, and it spends most of its energy on the pub half of that description.
