Andrea's Steak & Seafood House

First time here? Take the 30-second tour of how Restaurantica works!

Andrea's Steak & Seafood House puts steak first in its name, then hands its most distinctive plate to the seafood. Andrea's Fisherman's Platter arrives mixed and sized for two, a shared centrepiece in a category that normally gives every diner a separate slab of beef to work through alone. The steaks are real and the roast prime rib is the house specialty. But the kitchen's identity lives in the overlap — filet mignon with a lobster tail, chicken with a lobster tail, scallops and shrimp fried alongside — and that overlap is what a table is actually booking when it books here. Andrea's serves dinner only, full service, in a dining room on Manitoba Street in downtown Bracebridge.

Roast Prime Rib is the clearest single explanation of the place: roasted, carved, sent out au jus, nothing further asked of it. Surf 'n Turf compresses the whole premise into one order, filet mignon and lobster tail on a single plate, and Chicken and Lobster Tail runs the same move for a diner who would rather skip the beef. Deep-Fried Scallops and Shrimp covers the fried end of the seafood list, the kind of order that dates a kitchen in the best way. Around the mains, the supporting cast is period-correct and unembarrassed about it — Chicken Cordon Bleu with rice, a blue cheese salad, pan-fried mushrooms sent out next to the steaks, Black Forest Cake to finish.

Read the menu straight through and the logic becomes clear. Nothing on it is chasing a trend, and the combination plates organize dinner around abundance rather than around a chef's point of view: chicken with lobster, filet with lobster, a platter built for two. That is a decision, not a gap. Prices sit in a mid-range band for a full-service dinner, which keeps an ordinary evening ordinary while leaving the lobster there for the nights that are not. The range also does quiet work on a mixed table, where steak, fried seafood, and breaded chicken can all land at once without the kitchen straining. An old-school menu like this survives because it is legible to everyone sitting at it, and legibility travels further on a night out than novelty does.

The restaurant's recent history is not incidental to any of this. A fire in 2020 interrupted service, and Andrea's returned to the same Manitoba Street address afterward — not a small achievement for an independent dinner house with no chain standing behind it. The operating shape since then matches the food. Evenings only. Full table service, with takeout for anyone who would rather eat the prime rib at home. Reservations are handled by phone rather than through a booking widget, which reads as a limitation right up until a busy Saturday, when the person answering can say what is actually coming out of the kitchen that night. There is no dependable current menu posted online, so that call is also the honest way to confirm a specific dish before making the drive.

Andrea's is a particular kind of restaurant and honest about which kind. No lunch. No quick service. No reinvention of a format that was settled decades ago. Dinner at a table, with prime rib carved to order and a platter big enough that two people slow down over it. Bracebridge has faster food and newer food, and it has restaurants that are easier to research in advance. What it has fewer of is a dining room that treats dinner as the whole evening rather than the part before it. The steady thing about Andrea's is not that it came back — it is that it came back cooking the same food on the same street.

Unique Selling Points

Three things this kitchen does the rest don’t

  1. 01

A Steakhouse With a Seafood Spine

Prime rib, lobster-tail combinations, scallops, shrimp, and a shareable Fisherman’s Platter give Andrea’s two clear menu identities that meet naturally at Surf ’n Turf.

  2. 02

    A Piece of Bracebridge Continuity

The restaurant’s return after the 2020 fire gives its old-school dinner format a local continuity that matters as much as the retro menu itself.

  3. 03

    A Straightforward Occasion Dinner

Phone reservations, full service, shareable plates, and familiar desserts make Andrea’s easy to understand for date nights, family meals, and small celebrations.
