Giresi's Pizza Factory

9.1

First time here? Take the 30-second tour of how Restaurantica works!

Giresi's Pizza Factory could coast on its name and chooses not to. The Sarnia shop runs a Pickle Pizza — garlic butter base, mozzarella, pickle slices, dill, and a garlic-parm crust — on the same board as the family recipes that built the place, and the willingness to cook both at once is the most useful thing to know before ordering. Giresi's belongs to the Mitton Village stretch of East Street North, where the founder's sons now keep the recipes, and the menu reads like a kitchen that never decided settling in meant standing still. The family has been flipping pies in Sarnia since 1979, and the surprising part is how little that tenure has slowed it down.

The signature pizzas carry the personality. Pulled Pork Deluxe layers BBQ pulled pork with caramelized onion, green pepper, banana pepper, and a whiskey BBQ drizzle, so the sweetness and the heat each have somewhere to land. BBQ Chicken Supreme runs roasted red peppers, Parmesan, and oregano under the chicken; Cajun Chicken Deluxe pulls in green pepper, banana pepper, and red onion for more bite. Veggie Legit builds on roasted garlic, spinach, tomato, caramelized onion, feta, and a balsamic glaze. Happy Pig V runs vegan mozzarella, banana pepper, red onion, pineapple, and the same whiskey BBQ register as the meat pies, built as a real pizza rather than a swapped-out substitution. Around the board sit the dough-shop staples the kitchen has always made: Sam Bits tossed in garlic butter and Parmesan, Sici Sticks with the house dipping sauce, Cinni Bits under a homemade vanilla cream-cheese icing, and handmade cannoli to finish.

What the board says is that Giresi's treats a pizza menu as a place to have ideas. Most of the signature pies could not trade toppings without becoming a different order, which is rare for a neighbourhood pizzeria and is the clearest mark of a kitchen cooking on purpose rather than by template. The same intent shows up off the standing menu, where owner Mike Giresi has paired local produce from Zekveld's Garden Market with the classics to build seasonal pies — a Gus asparagus pizza, a Peaches and Cream pizza with local honey and ricotta. The everyday menu is engineered for the practical side too. Multi-pizza deals, a pizza-and-wings combo, and a no-substitution family bundle make Giresi's the answer when a household, a team, or a Friday night needs feeding, and the late weekend hours hold the door open for it.

The family thread runs deep enough to explain the rest. Mike Giresi is third generation in the Sarnia pizza business: his grandparents came from Italy and opened a pizza place in Reece's Corners, his father later started what became Giresi's, and Sam Giresi opened the shop itself in 1979. It moved four times before settling at the East Street North address in 1990, where it doubled in size and stayed. Mike runs it now with his brothers Marcus and Matt and sister-in-law Kristen, dough and sauce still made fresh daily, and the shop's standing in town is not abstract — local reporting has named it a Sarnia-Lambton community favourite, carrying a bracket of regional contenders the year it marked four decades in business.

The reach for local produce is the part that gives the place away. A shop coasting on a forty-year name does not go looking for a farm's asparagus to build a pizza that runs for a single month, but the Gus comes back every June, and that small seasonal habit says more about the kitchen than the years on the sign do. The dough gets made the same way it did in 1979, the Pickle Pizza sits a few squares over on the menu, and Giresi's keeps both on the board at once on Mitton Village's corner of East Street North.

Three things this kitchen does the rest don’t

  1. 01

    Family Pizza Since 1979

Giresi's has a real Sarnia lineage, not a borrowed nostalgia story. The family-run thread starts with Sam Giresi and now carries through the next generation, which gives the shop a durable local identity.

  2. 02

    Signature Pizza Board

The current menu gives diners several ways into the kitchen's personality. Pulled Pork Deluxe Pizza, Pickle Pizza, Veggie Legit Pizza, Happy Pig V, and BBQ Chicken Supreme Pizza each have a distinct build rather than repeating the same toppings under different names.

  3. 03

    Bundle-Friendly Takeout

Giresi's is built for practical group ordering. Current bundle offers, online ordering, sides, desserts, and late Friday-Saturday hours make it especially useful for families, teams, and weekend gatherings.
