CreekSides Ice Cream Parlour

9.0

First time here? Take the 30-second tour of how Restaurantica works!

Most people walk into CreekSides Ice Cream Parlour for a cone and walk out having ordered lunch too. That sequence — dessert first, with real food right behind it — is the whole idea of the place. The Chippawa Village shop is family-owned and built around a counter that does not make you choose between a scoop and a meal: a Dole Whip for one person, a Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub for the next, a custom cake ordered for the weekend, all from the same window. It reads as a quick stop and works as something closer to a small outing.

The dessert board is where CreekSides spends its imagination. Dole Whip leads it, with the Dole Float as the colder, more drinkable version of the same lane. From there the menu opens into banana splits built with syrups, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry; sundaes you assemble from the topping list; root beer floats; thick milkshakes; and the house Screamer. The frozen-drink side runs to slushies and real fruit smoothies with an optional protein add, and there are specialty coffees for the adult in the group who would rather have something warm. Cones come in baby, single, and double, with a waffle cone if the visit calls for it. None of it is fussy, and all of it is built to be ordered without much thought on a warm afternoon.

Then there is the savoury half, which is what separates CreekSides from a plain scoop shop. The counter turns out cold subs — ham and cheese, turkey, salami, BLT, veggie — alongside hot subs like the Philly cheesesteak and the buffalo chicken, plus wraps and a Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub that does the most work. The point of the subs is not that anyone comes here for a sandwich first. It is that they let dessert stay the reward. The pricing stays low across the board and the sizes scale down to kiddie portions, so a whole family can order the way it actually wants to — someone gets a sub, someone gets a sundae, someone gets a slushie, and nobody has to settle. A table can stop after time on the river, feed itself something real, and still end the visit on a banana split rather than a compromise.

The custom ice cream cakes are the part that makes CreekSides useful beyond the counter. Cakes come in six, eight, nine, and ten-inch sizes, with flavour layers, a written message or theme, and an edible photo option, ordered with three business days' notice rather than grabbed last-minute from a freezer case. The shop also keeps the kind of small inventory that rewards a slow browse — local JJP Farms honey, nostalgic candy, Pop Shoppe bottles in glass — and there is a Sundae Chair set up for the photo that tends to follow a big order. These are the touches of a shop that opened in 2018 expecting people to linger, not just grab and go.

What anchors all of it is Chippawa, a riverside pocket of Niagara Falls where a shop like this fits the rhythm of a day spent mostly outside. The ice cream trailer extends that rhythm past the storefront, bringing the same counter to birthdays, block parties, and gatherings too big for the shop to hold. CreekSides is not chasing novelty, and it does not need to. The cake gets ordered on Tuesday for Saturday, the trailer pulls up to the party on its own wheels, and the cone is waiting whenever the door is open.

Three things this kitchen does the rest don’t

  1. 01

Ice Cream First, Lunch Right Behind

Dole Whip, Dole Float, Banana Split, Sundae, Milk Shake, and Rootbeer Float give CreekSides its dessert identity. Subs and wraps make the same stop work when the group needs lunch before the sweet order.

  2. 02

    Cake Orders With Real Choices

Custom Ice Cream Cakes are not a throwaway side item. Size choices, flavour layers, messages, themes, and edible photos give CreekSides a clear role in birthdays and family celebrations.

  3. 03

    Chippawa Stop Energy

CreekSides feels built for outings: a cone after time outside, a sub before the next stop, a cake for later, or the trailer for a bigger gathering. The appeal is practical, local, and easy to understand.
