Iron Cactus

My boyfriend and I stopped at this restaurant for a nice, reasonably priced dinner. The decor and atmosphere are great, a bit romantic; we sat out on the patio. However, that was about the only good thing about the restaurant. It was a Saturday night and very, very busy but I still expected a bit faster service. Our server came over the second we sat down to take our drink order and we asked for water to give us a minute to look over the drink menu. 10 minutes later our server finally came back with our waters and took our food order (by this time we had decided against the drinks). Food came in about 25 minutes which isn't too bad for a busy restaurant. However, we had no silverware and our server said she would get us some. We watched her leave, come back and take the order of the table next to us, then leave, then come back with all of their drinks, then leave, and THEN come back with our silverware. We waited 5 minutes just for silverware! We ate our food (which tasted like any texmex food I get in my hometown in Florida; nothing too special but not bad) and then ordered the brownie mudslide (just a brownie sundae) which showed up 20 minutes later with the brownies sticking out of completely melted icecream! I couldn't believe a restaurant would even serve something that looked so terrible!! I finally got our server's attention a couple of minutes later and told her it was unacceptable and she said she would get me a new one, which, for a change, was brought out 5 minutes later with the ice cream still frozen. Over all, the food, when we finally got it, tasted okay and the atmosphere was cute, but with the super slow service and it being nearly impossible to get anyone's attention, and having to wait for things like silverware, giving the drink order, and getting the food right, I probably would never eat here again.

Good food, adequate service, thank you for allowing smoking on your patio.

If you are on the River Walk and you are looking for Great Mexican Cuisine (not Tex-Mex), this is your restaurant. We experienced great food and great service. Others tried the jalepeno poppers, fajitas and Carne Asada con Adobo. Nobody was hungry and not a single complaint. This was my second visit and both times were exceptional.
