Chic and trendy – a great spot for a light night get-together with friends. The red brick walls - inside - are covered with funky art – casual and sophisticated. Actually, you’ll probably feel like you just stepped onto the set of “Friends.”

We stopped in for chocolate martinis after having dinner at Basque - the bartender put on a great show while making them. The drinks themselves were a bit of a let down – more coffee flavor than chocolate. But I was impressed that they weren't as sickeningly sweet as I’d expected.

I’ve heard they’re a great lunch spot as well with awesome sandwiches. The Veggie Stack – Portobello mushrooms, mashed yams, won tons and tomatoes – is a filing alternative to some of the greasier fare offered in Nanaimo.

The drinks were fabulous and the crab cakes were simply to die for, then topped off with the great pasta dish and dessert. Service was excellent. We felt comfortable asking our server questions about our choices and the meals arrived in a comfortable sequence. The music was relaxing and conducive to chatting comfortably while enjoying our meal. Nice atmosphere. I look forward to introducing my family members and other friends to this little gem in downtown Nanaimo.
