Kusina Filipina Restaurant

I haven't had authentic Filipino meal since leaving the Philippines in 2005, so the lunch was a mini-feast for me. The owner himself served us and we talked about the paintings he had on the walls of his restaurant, one of which was by a National Artist. The restaurant reminded me of the small restaurants one finds all over the islands, the ones not frequented by tourists and snooty upscale professionals who don't have any clue to what they're missing: excellent food at a bargain price. The food served is of a particular region in Central Luzon, but the pan de sal that the owner insisted we taste fresh from the oven, is Kusina Filipina's very own.
