Kerbey Lane Cafe

Kerbey Lane is one of my favorite places for breakfast. They are open early, their food is fresh (they even grow some of their own vegetables!), and their staff is friendly and attentive. Their sausage patties are particularly tasty -- they are homemade, have a bit of spicey heat to them and are grilled which gives them a cooked out flavor and beautiful grill marks. The whole wheat toast is a wheatberry toast that is many notches above the usual wheat toast that most restaurants serve. And they have the most artfully delightful way of stacking their toast.

Kerbey Lane omlettes and migas are also good. But my friend who loves pancakes reports that the pancakes at Magnolia Cafe are superior to Kerbey Lane's.
