Review: Let me start by saying that the food itself was very very good and the cooks who prepared our meals for us were personable and courteous. All in all the food and the cooking staff were very impressive. Unfortunately our experience was incredibly soured by the waitress who was assigned to our table. The waitress was curt and actually hushed me when I attempted to order a drink, then after taking my order failed to bring me the requested beverage. The waitress then proceeded to bring a bill with a soft drink charged to us and although she crossed it out when we pointed out that the soft drink was not served - when she rang in our bill she charged us for the beverage and underhandedly returned our change minus the cost of the soft drink. I am very upset that an establishment where two people easily spend $100.00 for a meal would think it appropriate to charge for items not provided. I mean really when your customers drop a bill on a meal for two it would be appreciated if you could own up to your errors as a waitress and not be underhanded - I feel that this reflects poorly on the experience as a whole and left with no real desire to ever return which is unfortunate because the food itself is so good.

Review: I have to agree with most of the comments about the food being EXCELLENT. But as well with the many comments for the price you pay, you would expect a better service. We were 6 of us and I felt like my food was practically shoved down my throat. Everytime I finished something my dish was taken away from me as soon as I was done and something else came along quickly and quickly taken away again. We were done in no time. When we got home, I realized that we never even got our green tea! They practically started washing the grill as soon as were finished as if to say please get out, another group will take your place. I hadn't even finished my Marguarita..... I had to finish half my drink in one shot! In general, I found that the service was on the rude edges. I will probably go back again for the food but not for a while. Maybe next time I'll try lunch since even if I get rushed service, you usually pay less for lunch.

Review: I went to this place several times and I still love it every time! Despite being a tiny bit on the expansive side, this place gives it all; great food (the filet mignon is the best in town), great entertainment and friendly people. Never been disapointed and I went there several times.

Review: Disappointing: perhaps because I've had sashimi in Japan; likely because I'm a "foodie". Four fish variaties (4 slivers each): tuna was unrecognizeable, pickled I think; as was the mackeral. Salmon was OK and the octopus was so thin and so small it was hardly worth the while. Way too much wasabi and "common" soy sauce. Much to expensive, horrible service. A second waitress came around to take our orders again -- appearently the first waitress couldn't read her own writing.

Review: THIS is a awesome restaurant been in ottawa for years and will be in ottawa for many years to come. I am only posting a review because of reading other peoples reviews. They give the place a lousy review but the keep on coming ? The service, atmosphere, and quality of food are all in the 9.5 to 10 range. I have traveled all over the world and this is probably one of ottawa top 5 restaurants in ottawa. The only critism i have for the place is its a little pricey but u get what u pay for. And to the idiot who said there are non-asian people working there were in Canada right.....

Review: A staple, yes. It's Teppenyaki - a grill, so like all grills, you will smell of the food afterwards. Also, not for vegetarians or allergies (seafood) as all food are prepared with the same instruments, though I've seen them change the cooking order and prepare the shrimp last to accomodate - so ask!

The menu have not changed, and only the duck is no longer offered (and only since July 2007 has it been marked off, finally), but also, the _prices_ have not changed in an eternity, not something you see very often.

The quality of the meal and experience does depend on the chef you get, a lot; and cooking method varies a little from chef to chef. But each teppan house has a "style", and I much prefer this one to Edoko's (who drown everything in sauces even once it's on your plate). The fish is taken fresh from Lapointe's every morning, and they always find the perfect way to cook the beef to desired tastes (I like well-done but not carbonised, and they always find the perfect stopping point) so they're quite well trained.

In the two years I've been going regularly, I've noticed a big increase in the number of non-Asian waitstaff (from 0 to 3) that allow them to get and receive orders with fewer translation issues. This staff is also trained properly.

The whole place _could_ use a nice cleaning and update of things like the carpet (and music, at least a little more variety), but the food is excellent, at quite reasonable prices, and I admit I'm hooked. Especially to the sauces and dressing, and I normally don't take dressing. That the food arrives on the plate juicy but not dripping in sauce allows the customer to dip as little or as much as they want themselves, which is definitely appreciated.

Review: Have been coming here for years, and despite the static menu, the food is great. All dishes are well prepared, and we just love the sauces! The cooks are great, but the hostesses could be nicer. Good entertainment; a little pricey but worth it, in our opinion.

Review: I love this place! Its rustic, which makes you think it wont be that good. But its superb. The food was cooked very well, the service was fast, the cooks were entertaining and friendly. The best part of this restaurant was the sauces, the ginger sauce for your vegies and the steak sauce. I would dip everything into them if i could. Their salad dressing is also very good!
Over all this place is very good, entertaining and perfect for family occasions, or first dates!

Review: The Steak melts in your mouth like butter! I love this place. Most of the chefs are frendly and social The tables have been updated as has the decor. This place has been around for about 30 years.

Review: It's one of those..."you have to try it places"...but not somewhere I would go to often. It's fun seeing them cook it right in front of you and it's neat sitting with other people...but there isn't much to choose from on the menu.

And be aware...your clothes will reek of onions and chicken/beef/salmon after you leave the place.

Review: Japanese steak houses, cook the food in front of you kind of places are entertaining and fun. This ione is no exception. It has been around for close to twenty years and a place that lasts that long has something good to offer. My only complaint is that the menus and decor are the same age as the resturant. The menus have wines and food items on them (scratched out) that are not available and have not been available for many years. The least they can do is print new menus (and get new carpets and clean the big Buddah).

Review: A tried and true concept and the food is OK. This could be a really great place with updating. The problem with this resturant is the decor and menu. The menu has not changed a single bit in many many years. Even the menus themselves have not been reprinted, items scratched out and such. The service is OK.
