Maybe the best Chinese take-out in North Carolina.
I've eaten at practically all of the Chinese take-out restaurants within a 50-mile radius of Biscoe, NC and China Eight is definitely a stand-out regarding quality of food, service, and price. No frozen food item quickies here; everything, including the egg rolls, is freshly made from hand-prepared ingredients.
Chef Jin Xiong Zhou's Egg Drop soup and Hot & Sour soup, both made while you wait or while on your way to pick them up, are better than any I've tasted elsewhere. The Hot & Sour soup is really spicy hot, but he will tone it down upon your request.
China Eight serves all the standard Chinese/American fare found in practically all such restaurants, but my two favorites here are Chicken & Broccoli with white sauce -- not the standard brown sauce, and the Singapore Rice Noodle Lo Mein. The white sauce, suggested to me by Mr. Zhou's nephew, changes the chicken and broccoli dish totally, and for the better. No more brown sauce with this dish for me. And the Singapore Rice Noodle Lo Mein has a real spicy hot kick to it, but you can order "less hot" to suit your taste.
While this is considered locally as a take-out restaurant, there are six tables with seating for 24 people. Average wait time for a freshly cooked meal is 10 minutes.
