Shady Rest is no longer open. A decent (OK food, good price) Mexican place has opened in that building. I loved this place. I don't feel like the descriptions of ranks on the rating scale accomodate the down-home charm of this place. The decor, for instance, would leave a lot to be desired for many, and it never changed - nor would it - but I always went back. It was charming - quite lovely. Food wasn't exceptional, but better than many BBQ places around town. Sadly, you'll never taste it.
