Sweet Tomatoes

My husband, myself, and our 2 daughters (ages 2 and 10 months) went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch last weekend. I found the food was pretty good. My 2 year old daughter loved it. She ate a ton, and she was free! (under 3 free) So you can't beat that. My husband wasn't that impressed, but he is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, and this is a salad bar restaurant. For what they offer I found the value to be really good. My only real complaint was that the person who busses the tables never came to take away trays or empty plates and we had a tiny table, so it was really crowded. Other than that it was a nice experience and I was happy that I didn't have to cook. I would certainly go back.

So my husband and I went out on a rare occassion without kids. We were both craving a nice big salad so we opted for Sweet Tomatos - it's their specialty, right... WRONG!!

The selection was pathetic, the salad was wilted, the service was horrible and the food was just nasty. We made the best of it because we were just happy to be on a date but we vowed never to return. We could look past the lack of parking, having to stand like cattle while waiting to be hurried to an open table by a volturous "server" and the grumbling of other restaurant guests - but when the food still leaves you empty - that's when you have to draw the line.

So, if you want good service, great food and a fabulous atmosphere... well, this is not the place to go but if you have someone you can't stand and don't really want to be with anyway... by all means, bon appetit!
