  • Wow, were we ever disappointed. We had reservations this evening for a special event....a brithday dinner. Because my boyfriend and I are dieting, we researched the Eagles Nest online prior to going to dinner there to see if we could pre-select our meal rather than be faced with dificult choices when arriving at the restaurant. I was really shocked when I found this site and read all the negative reviews. Because we were joining others at the restaurant, we could not change plans to go somewhere else, but we did joke with each other that if we had been going by ourselves, we would have likely cancelled our reservation and dined somwhere else. We thought it must have just been a fluke that there were so many poor reviews with only a slight sprinkling of more positive comments. We decided to go in with an open mind. But as it turned out, the other critiques were most right on the money. Totally accurate, The service was slow. We sat for 1 1/2 hours before we even received our salads, The waitress, never asked for our patience or explained anything about the delay with serving our meal. The food came out okay but it was nothing worth singing the praises of this restaurant. I don't think we will ever go back. Hope this review helps others and I sure wish we would have listened to our gut instinct and went elsewhere.

  • Just had a fabulous wedding rehearsal dinner at the Eagles Nest. There were 25 people and everyone raved about the food selections. Crab cake - huge and delicious, Flounder - reaaly big and tasty, Steak sirloin - tender and seasoned perfectly. The service was excellent (thanks Jenn and Eli). The bride and her family repeated over and over about how perfect everything was. Awesome views, great food, superb service. You just gained 25 new fans of your restaurant! SusanB

  • Never, Never, Never Again. Went there last Saturday night witha party of 10 and a reservation for 6 p.m. By 7 they were very busy. That's the only good point, the restaurant made money, but not for long I suspect. My date ordered the Greek lasagna which was served refrdgerator cold and was sent back to be heated. My sirloin steak was burnt on the outside and very tough. Nothing a chef can do about that on a grill, it just wasn't quality beef. Someone ordered the flounder stuffed with "crab imperial." It was the smallest piece of flounder I've ever seen served as an entree. Our waitress gave it her best but was simply overloaded with other tables, so the service was not at all acceptable. She didn't even have a busboy or manager to help serve our party. I hate to encourage bad waitresses or waiters with hefty tips but she was obviously new and ill trained so she was tipped well anyway. The rolls were fresh, just wish I could have wrestled more than one from our waitress. We were seated right away but it took 30 minutes to get a salad and the entree followed 40 minutes later. I was the designated driver and had ice water only with my meal. This seemed to upset the waitress and in the 3 hour ordeal I only managed to get one extra glass of water. The mixed drinks kept coming though. Never, Never Again.

  • I wanted to take my daughter to a nice restaurant for her 35th birthday What a poor choice!! Steaks we ordered medium rare were more than well done , dry, just terrible. Crabcakes had that taste of (i forget what you call it, but the yellow stuff in the crab that most of us don't want to taste) terrrible When we sent one of the steaks back someone came to our table and said they couldn't see it being any better than that. We were extremely dissappointed The only nice thing I could say is our young waitress was very nice and I was sure when I told her what we all thought of everything that none of it was her fault and we by no means blamed her. It is a shame the business may end up suffering sometime in the future because I am sure if anyone asks me about the Eagles nest , I will not be able to recommend it and I work at a place where people do want me to recommend places Word will eventually get around and while the place seems busy now, when business isn't as good and the owner wonders why, THIS is the beginning Customers bad experiences with bad attitudes from the cook and food not up to expectations I know when we go out and we do go out a lot The Eagles Nest will not even enter our minds again except to say no and tell those we are going with how terrible it was when we did go there.

  • Lunch time (12:30 - 1:45 PM) on Monday, 11/24/08: This was the first time dining here, so we asked the female server for recommendations and she said she couldn't provide any because the restaurant had been open for lunch just a week or so. I ended up ordering the Shaved Prime Rib Dip Sandwich with sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, and cheese. After I got the sandwich, I took a couple of bites, and thought it was very bland and that something was missing. I realized it didn't have the sauteed onions or mushrooms on it. The server didn't come by to ask how the food was, so I took a few more bites. When she finally did come to our table, I told her that I thought the sandwich was supposed to have the sauteed onions and mushrooms. The server said she didn't think so; that those would be included on the dinner menu, but that she would double-check with the kitchen. The server never came back until she brought the bill and she didn't tell me what she had found out. Since I didn't want to make a big deal, I thought I would just check the menu on the way out to satisfy my curiosity because what she said about the dinner menu didn't make any sense. I paid the bill, and at the reception desk on the way out, I looked at the menu, and sure enough, the sandwhich was supposed to have the sauteed onions and mushrooms on it. I thought I would let the manager know. She was in the bar laughing it up with some other people as I waited patiently by the reception desk. When it was obvious that the manager wasn't going to acknowledge me and come to the desk, I walked over and waited for her to finish her conversation. At that time, the phone rang at the desk. This distracted the manager from her conversation (but not me standing there), so I told her I wanted to talk to her. She rudely said that she had to answer the phone first, so obviously I was an annoyance she didn't want to deal with. So, I followed her back to the desk. After she got off the phone, I told her about the discrepancy. The manager said rudely, "oh, I already know. Your waitress told me about it and the kitchen knows." I told her my concern that the waitress was delayed in coming to check on our table and then tried to dismiss the fact that the sandwich was missing half of it's ingredients. Still rude, the manager gave the excuse that the kitchen was still learning the menu. Since she had no apology whatsoever, I told her that the customer shouldn't be sacrified for the kitchen's learning curve. Then she snapped that "I already ate the sandwich." I told her that I had not finished the sandwich when I alerted the server, however, the manager wanted to argue that I had. I told her it was irrelevant whether the sandwich was eaten or not because the fact was that the sandwich was missing the ingredients. I asked her if she felt there should be an adjustment to the bill. The manager rudely said that since I already paid, there was nothing she could do about it. I told her that this was no way to treat the customer, and she just glared at me with a look that said "GO AWAY AND DON'T COME BACK." This manager needs a lesson in Customer Service 101 and a lesson in basic people skills. The server needs to learn a few things about her job as well. For future diners, please be forewarned to double-check what you ordered and let someone know BEFORE you pay the bill, if something isn't right. And don't expect any concern, especially if the same waitress and manager are still working there. For the owner of the Eagle's nest, please note that no matter how good the food or atmosphere are, customers will not return to a place where they are treated so poorly. This was a VERY DISAPPOINTING experience!!

  • This place is the best thing to ever happen to York. My husband and I have been waiting for SO long for this place to open. The old Eagles Nest went so downhill. The new Eagles Nest is AMAZING. They're food is Oh...SO good. The service is prompt and efficient. Everything is great. And you get a free complimentary dessert at the end of every visit; the greek lokomades. Wow! Oh and get this! Every wednesday night they have a professional illusionist come in and perform around the bar area and dining room. He showed us some "tricks" for about 20 minutes. This guy, Eli was his name, was absolutely astonishing! I've never seen magic tricks like the ones he did. He did stuff with his iPhone and made my card appear in some guy's beer bottle!!!! Go check him out! Just GO experience the Eagles Nest for one night. You will not be dissapointed! That's my 2 cents.

  • We called for reservations for party of 14 and found we were the only ones in the second level of the restaurant. We had one waitress for our table and it took 1/2 hour to get our orders; then 1 hour to get our food; 1 hour to eat; and 1 1/2 hours to get our dessert and bill. They claimed problems with the computer but 3 1/2 hours for dinner on a Sunday night is ridiculous. We had some casual apologies given but we were treated as an inconvenience. We will not be back. It's a shame because the food was good.

  • We have been there one time, but it was wonderful. We're going back soon so I hope it was as good as the first time. The seafood casserole was out of this world and my husband's Greek salad was wonderful! I loved the stuffed grape leaves with the salads and the Greek pastry after dinner. Price range was a bit on the high end, but with the quality of the food and service, it was more than worth it!

  • My wife and I are 3-4 times a week patrons of the New Eagles Nest and each time we continue to become more impressed. The food is outstanding and the customer service is pretty darn good. We have never had a bad experience there and the place always seems to be busy, especially on the weekends where our dinners never took longer than 20 minutes despite the place being packed. Our favorite selections are the Crab Dip appetizer, King Prime Rib, Crab Cakes(awesome), the N.Y. Strip, all of the restaurants meats are 100% certified Black Angus, the taste surely demonstrates that and the complimentary Lokomades, what a great touch, are Greek honey puffs served after dinner are simply fantastic, very delicious. From our experiences, the Eagles Nest is doing a great job and it has become our destination of choice for a great dining experience.
