Don Pedro Mexican Food

Don Pedro is not fancy, but the food is good. It's kind of a little funky place, but when we noticed that all the locals eat there, we decided to give it a try.
The food is pretty authentic, not too Americanized. You can get your choice of taco (the small open face style - chicken, steak, pork, etc...many choices) for $1.30. I usually get 3 of them and it's just enough to fill me up. The Grilled Chicken (Pollo Asado) Plate comes with 1/2 chicken that is delicious with a crispy skin that I can't resist and the usual rice and beans, also 3 or 4 corn tortillas and salad on the side. Usually, when I order this plate I have enough leftovers for lunch the next day.
My husband gets the large burrito that also comes with rice and beans. It is a pretty satisfying meal for him and he's a big guy.
You order at a counter and pick up your food when it's ready, so there's no real "service", but the workers are helpful and friendly.
It usually costs about $12-$18 dollars for the two of us, depending on if we get ala carte items or plates. There is also Horchata available, which is hard to resist on a hot day.
So don't go expecting a fancy place.....but you will get some tasty authentic and inexpensive Mexican food at Don Pedro.
