  • Visited the restaurant on an autumn Saturday night. We were greeted friendly at the door by the owner/manager, but the service went downhill promptly once the staff took over. Long wait before the order was taken, long wait before drinks were brought, and when the food came, the kitchen made an error on one entree. When I pointed out the issue, the waitperson whisked away to correct the problem, but never said a word of apology, and didn't return to the table again. On top of that, the food portions were small based on the $14 per entree we spent, and most of the food was woefully under seasoned. Plus, the salsa was a joke, tasting like V8 juice with garlic powder added. The decor was harsh on the eyes, with weird figures on the wall that looked like they were made by kindergartners with silly string. Needless to say, I won't be coming back, nor will my other half involved in local food services recommend it to her clients.

  • It is obvious that this restaurant strives for quality, not quantity. It's apparent in the taste of the food and drinks. La Oficina is not your regular, run of the mill, cheese-loaded Mexican meal that you find at other Eugene Mexican restaurants. Best mole I have ever tasted! Everything had that made fresh, from scratch taste. Some of the margaritas maybe a little pricey but they are made from quality tequila that doesn't come cheap these days. For those who don't want to spend to much there are lots of drink options. If you like a great hot salsa, ask for the home made habanero salsa. It's over the top heat wise but has a great flavor. As far as the food, if you cannot appreciate good quality Mexican food, this might not be the place for you.

  • Order: Coctel de Camarones, Mole, Oscar's Ultimate Margarita

Considering that this review completely maxed out the ratings, and that the reviewer criticized another review who gave this establishment lower marks, I'm led to believe that this is a biased review planted by the owner or one of their friends, and...

  • I eat out often and felt the food was very overpriced for the amount you got. The salsa was watery and the beans were bland. When you look at the menu it is easy to get excited about the food but the execution is done very poorly. The Marguritas were expensive and nothing more than a machine drink. I had to wait for the rest of my group for quite a while so I had the opportunity to really watch the dynamics of the restaurant. Oscar, the owner seems to be on a power trip and appears to micromanage his staff, he is not shy about it either. Our waitress was a cute girl that was really busting butt to take care of all of her customers. She was friendly, efficient and a bit flustered but handled it well, she was swamped. Rather than assisting her Oscar just berated her in front of customers, it was really sad.
Overall I think the idea is great, the atmosphere is nice but the owner might be a bit burnt out to be an effective manager. We tipped our waitress well and decided that there were better alternatives in Eugene.

  • Order: Chile rellenos, burrito, papusa

PepperGirl, the comments about the owner are relevant if his presence effected the dining experience. Based on this comment and your glowing, maxed-out review of this place, I can only conclude that you're too biased to be taken seriously.

  • Fun atmosphere with a very friendly welcoming crew. Summer outside with a Corazon Margarita and friends... It doesn't get better than this. Send my regards to Anne & Oscar!

  • Order: They have the best fresh margaritas! Also great fresh citrusy salsa as well as a smokey habenero salsa that's great on any dish. Yummy refried beans, tamales, and empanadas.
