Spago Trattoria E Pizzeria

I went to Spago based on reviews here. I was very dissapointed. This place is not very Italian. The menu is limited and the food quality is not very good. Its very "frozen entree" in quality and taste. Not real chef abilities here. Just OK food. To think its something special I would have to surmise the eater has not been to many places.

Salad was OK. Not bad at all but not mind blowing. Best part of the meal. The rest of the food was extremely over priced to quality. Canneloni that was very bland. Gnochi that was plain yet with overpowering Basil. No real taste blend to anything. Again - I could go to any grocery store and get frozen food of this quality. The daily special was priced higher than the menu items. When I go out for a meal I'd like to have a Mmmm thats good experience. Here it was eatable but not something I'd cross the street for and at the prices - no way I'd ever go back. Service was OK but also just OK.

Overall the impression I has was that I got ripped off and will not be going back. One of the worst restaurant expereinces of recent years all related to food quality.

The food here is fantastic. i go often and it is always remarkable. The salad and dressing is out of this world. The soups and bread are always great, Every main course I have had has been superb. Well worth crossing the border for.

Spagos is great in every aspect.

best dining experience i've ever had in my life

Appetizers are good. Great bread with roasted garlic, olive oil and balsamic. Salads are cold and tasty, with not too much dressing. Pasta with mussels and white wine sauce is fantastic. I love the gnocchi.

Bonus - they have whole wheat pasta! Risottos are wonderful, and can be made with barley.

Only drawback is that it can get too loud when it's busy.

Spagos is the most delicious restaurant in windsor.

The best Italian restaurant!!!!

It was a nice casual place. My buddies and I really enjoyed the place. The only downside was the limited seating, so get there early to get a seat and enjoy.

The restaurant was fairly busy for a Saturday night, I don't think the restaurant expected it, must have been a lot of walkins. The food took forever to receive. There were 5 children at the table, and they waited until all food (adult and children)was prepared before they received their own dinners. The least the restaurant could have done was serve them (ages 5 - 8), the adults could have waited. This was communicated to the waiter on numerous occasions, all we received was an apology for the wait. We waited over an hour. The pizza were burnt, the fish was overcooked, the pasta was cold. Never in my experience dining on Erie Street did I receive such poor service. Spago's used to be a very reputable name on Erie Street and unfortunately for them their service has gone down the toilet. It's service like this that keep the people away. I have never written a review about any restaurant, but this night was unforgettable. Unfortunately, neither myself or any member or my family and we are a huge family, will return to any Spago location.

I lived in Windsor for 4 years, then moved to Toronto. I can honestly say this is by far the best Italian restaurant in Canada. I have eaten at over 30 high end Italian restaurants all across Toronto, and nothing comes close. Spago is the complete package, everytime I visit Windsor I have to go. In particular the sauce for the baked eggplant is unbelievable.

Fabulous! We are from out of town, if this place was local to us - we'd be regulars.
