La Cucina Restaurant

If you are looking for slow service, luke warm food, fruit flies flying around, and loud mouth patrons around you for a nice romantic evening, then La Cucina is your place!! We will NEVER go back, and we will tell everyone how horrible it was. It's a waste of a nicely decorated environment!
We wish we would have taken the reviews listed here seriously, and not wasted our time or our money. Food was bland...and lack-luster at best. Let's just say it matched the service we received. It's a shame to try a place, and to be as disgusted as we were, that we will never return. At least the owner isn't shy about where his priorities are -- in front of us, he told the waitress to "take really good care" of a table, as they are good customers and recently had a party at this restaurant. Although it's great to "take really good care" of your regulars, you've lost two potential regulars on their first visit, not to mention everyone else we tell of our experience. Priorities clearly NOT in order. Big disappointment.

My wife and I were very disappointed. Service was very slow and in fact some who arrived after us got served before us. The bread had no character, the soup was interesting but left a bad taste in the throat. The Caesar salad was adequate at best.
My wife's entree had a thick "blush" sauce and my own chicken entree was cold and tough (evidence of it being cooked from a frozen state) We have no plans to return.

While the service was wonderful, the ambiance great, the food was below our expectations. Sauces used in pasta dishes were tasteless (both the tomato sauce and the cheese sauce). The steak while pleasing to the eye, tasted bland. I was disappointed

Amazing food and service. The plates came out looking beautiful and the food tasted amazing. The best was our portabello mushroom appetizer, definitly a must have!! Will definitly visit again.

We were delighted the first time we visited La Cucina and couldn't wait to try it again. However, the second time was a big disappointment. Although the service was good, the food was tasteless. We kept adding salt and pepper, but it didn't help. Although the mussels were adequate, the La Cucina soup was amazing. We will give it one more chance, but not for awhile. The prices are too high for such inconsistency. Especially since no soup or salad is served with the meals.

I have been here several times & have never been disappointed. The menu is varied, simple and delicious. The service is excellent and I love how the owner makes the rounds to ensure that you are satisfied. Request to see him if he misses your table to give your opinion on his restaurant. He will ensure that it all goes well. The decor is pleasing to the eye also. Always my first choice for a good Italian dinner out.

Atmosphere: inviting little place, with just enough lighting for relaxed ambience. Can be noisy at times, but we thought it was a nice kind of noisy -- indicative of people enjoying themselves.

Drinks: substantial - they did no skimp on the alcohol, and the drinks are mixed very well; martinis included some of the fattest olives I've seen; the cosmos were fantastic - nice and tart, and very cold.

Dinner: this being our first time here, we asked for a sampler for the group. The veal was excellent, and very tender. Everybody loved the chicken -- the combination of the cheese/asparagus/cream sauce was incredible. The penne was done perfectly, with just enough spice in the sauce to compliment the parmesan topping. I caught several people wiping their plates with the extra bread, which was also delicious.

Service: very friendly, albeit a little slow that night. The restaurant looked 75% full when we arrived, and filled up as the evening went on. Initially, the wait for water and drink orders took a while, but after that everything went pretty smoothly. When we couldn't make up our minds on our order, the staff obligingly asked the chef to put a sampler together for us. There was a large party of people in an adjoining room, but that did not seem to disrupt anything.

To test whether this initial visit was a fluke, my husband and I have tried different meals since. This restaurant is the real thing and rivals most of the restaurants on Erie Street in Windsor. If you get the chance, I highly recommend a meal at La Cucina.

One of the best places I have been to. Sister and brother-in-law invited my husband and I for dinner there in July. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! Louie but something special together for us and it was just wonderful. Everything was so good my husband and I went back 8/3/07 for our anniversary and Louie took care of us again. Well worth the travel from LaSalle. Can't praise it enough.
