Worst Sushi worst Udon ever.
Don't even have avocado in Dynamite maki, more than half of the sushi is rice. Sushi is extremely thin.I don't understand why in the world would Udon soup taste so sweet, as if the chef put the whole pack of sugar in it. And two little mushrooms? Are you guys just there to decorate the noodle and yet make it worse? There was no egg yolk in the egg.
I do not understand the existence of this restaurant, the waiters are not Japanese, not even East Asian. Then at least play some Japanese music? But no, it was INDIAN MUSIC.

We went here for a birthday and made reservations specifically asking if they could provide us with a quiet spot in the restaurant. When we got there they placed us beside a group of rowdy students. Which was okay, but then they got our orders wrong. We asked for our sushi without sesame seeds and they agreed that that was possible. When we got our food it was covered in sesame seeds, which a member of our party was allergic to. We asked them to correct the order and they said we never asked for it without sesame seeds. She then said that we should have said that when ordering. After eventually agreeing to fix it, the very rude waitstaff ignored us for the duration of our stay. Never going back!
- Order: tempura vegetables, dragon roll, maki dinner, miso soup, teppanyaki

Hikari is a gastronomical gem housed in a two story Victorian house in downtown Windsor, it is clean, quiet, and the décor is traditional Japanese with a splash of a modern fusion. Seating is available for any number of patrons, from a single diner at the Sushi Bar, to large groups in designated rooms. And, for the daring, there is also traditional Japanese seating available. The proprietors, Theresa and Richard, mingle freely and are both friendly and accommodating. The food is of unparalleled quality in the downtown, and is a must-stop for the Serious Sushi Aficionado. The sushi, nigiri and maki, is prepared with only the freshest ingredients and presented with the serious perfection rarely found outside Japan. They have a full but focused menu listing everything from exquisitely tasting traditional Japanese appetizers to Asian Inspired Entrée's. If you want the best stir-fried vegetable dish in Essex County, it's not on the menu, you have to ask for the Stir-Fry that 'T' orders………………….…lol.
A wonderful destination for either a night out, a family dinner, or a party of many, it's well worth the effort to find this place, as it always strives for perfection. - Order: green tea, miso soup, vegetable tempera appetizer, Hot Sake, and a very large selection of Nigiri and Maki Sushi, desert.

Sushi was extremely fresh. Came in on a friday night and although it was busy the service was good. We sat in the room on the floor and it was so beautiful. The negimaki is soooo delicious with its sweet sauce. Definitely coming back.
- Order: negimaki, maki dinner, green tea ice cream.

Horrible meal, with a dash of hair. I was not happy with the quality of food here. When i made the owner aware I was not happy with the meal she told me she don't care and not to come here again. Pretty rude if you ask me. So i would not recommend it.

Hikari is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Windsor! it has expensive but very tasty and immaculately prepared sushi. we often spend a lot of money there but we also always leave happy and full.
while i love sushi, i adore their tempura udon even more. it comes to you piping hot with lightly battered crispy tempura shrimp and veggies on the side. after shaking in some of the spice they provide, the broth has a bit of spice and screams to be completely drained (which i do!).
the decor of the restaurant is pretty, with the interior looking way better than the exterior. their dinnerware is simple yet modern. however i have noticed it's a bit chipped so i'd be happier if they replaced it.
a word of advice to them: bring in some better Japanese desserts and they would be spectacular. i would dine there every chance i had if they offered mochi ice cream.
my only other complaint is their hours of operation. many a time, my friends and i have come craving sushi or udon only to find them closed (in between lunch and dinner times). i've been there 3 times and enjoyed every meal. i can't wait for our next visit!
- Order: tempura udon
