Basil Court is by far my favourite Thai restaurant in Windsor. I have been to Thai Silk, Eat In Thailand and Thai Palace and Basil Court still comes out on top. Every dish I have tried is very good and the portions are always generous. The green curry chicken and the bohbia are the best out there. The peanut sauce chicken, basil shrimp, pad thai, sweet and sour pork and anything else on the dinner or lunch menu is also tasty. I recommend the lunch menu because of the selection and price. The dishes off the lunch menu run from $5.25 to $6.25, but make sure to order early if you are picking up food on your lunch hour.
- Order: Steamed shrimp & chicken rolls (bohbia), vegetable spring rolls, green curry chicken, and pad thai

We have been going to Basil Court as a family since my parents deemed my younger brother (then 9) old enough to handle the spice. We love it immensely and continue to love it. Even when we deviate from our standard order (Thai spring rolls, mango salad, lemongrass soup, yellow shrimp curry, Thai spicy noodle, sweet-and-sour chicken, and lemongrass beef), we're never disappointed. We're now on a first-name basis with the owner, Kim, and her daughter, Chin, who frequently serve us when we eat there.
To answer to Ladybug's post (scroll down by a few to read his/her take), the owners are, in fact, Thai. Their chef prepares the spring rolls and all spice blends and sauces fresh that day from scratch- definitely no ketchup involved here. As for chicken in pad thai, I've never seen a Thai restaurant that didn't offer it as an option. Whether or not it's authentic, it appears that the North American customer enjoys it, and Basil Court has never given me anything but complete customer satisfaction.
One important thing to note: as other reviewers have mentioned, this is not the place to take a first date unless s/he doesn't mind slightly outdated décor. On the upside, the fish tank now has rocks on the bottom! Thai Silk may be better for atmosphere, but they'll never beat Basil Court for food. I've yet to try and review Eat in Thailand, but you can be sure I'll be using Basil Court as a benchmark for comparison.
- Order: Thai spring rolls, mango salad, lemongrass soup, yellow shrimp curry, Thai spicy noodle, sweet-and-sour pork, lemongrass beef

I was just at Basil Court today and last Friday. I haven't been in years but I thought I'd try it again. Excellent food, really good peanut chicken and chicken pad thai, the ginger chicken and broccoli was also very flavorful. Portion sizes for pad thai are very large, portion sizes for chicken could've been larger but overall very impressive! Order the mild if you don't like the slightest bit of heat.

How do I start????? the food was subpar, at best! If these people are Thai, than I am from the planet Mars! the satay chicken was made with too much curry sauce and the peanut (butter) sauce did not even have a peanut taste to it. tiger shrimp and mushroom soup was soooo hot (even though I asked for mild) it burned my tongue off! Cashew nut chicken was like if I had ordered from a chinese restaurant, ie: chicken with veggies. Pad Thai...ok here we go! You people say in all reviews that this is the best, well.....I could put ketchup in Kraft dinner and it would taste better than this Pad Thai. And, who in there right mind puts chicken in Pad Thai???? Oh, and the rice, could have made it myself, cheaper!! Please do yourself and your tastesbuds a favour and go right now to Eat in Thailand at 560 Wyandotte St. W. to taste REAL THAI FOOD!!!!!!

This is one of the best places in Windsor to eat. It's cheap, it's fast and they make amazing food. Pad thai anywhere else just isn't as good. I adore this place!

I love Basil Court and think it's the best place for authentic Thai food in Windsor. Although the decor is outdated and the place looks like it needs restaurant makeover, the food makes up for it. The people there are super nice and the food is FANTASTIC. I rave to all my friends about it. I swear by their food. They use all natural ingredients and no MSG. Why pay more for crappier food and a better atmosphere at other Thai places? Bail courts diners avg $8-10 bucks while other places avg. 15-17 (for veggie meals).

I visit Windsor often on business from the Toronto area and was sceptical to try Basil Court. The take out is fantastic and I recommend anything on the menu with fresh ingredients. The place itself may be in need of a make over but the food is fresh and tasty!

Pad Thai was really good.
Fried tofu was sickeningly disgusting, I took one bite and threw the rest out. BARF! If you want good fried tofu, go to a Japanese/sushi restaurant, the Japanese know what they're doing with tofu. - Order: Pad Thai hot, depp fried tofu with peanut sauce

I recently returned to Basil Court after a couple years. It was nowhere near as good as previously. The service was slow, food was uninspired, and the decor showed a little more dinginess.

My favourite restaurant in Windsor. Can't get enough. Decor is a bit dismal, but food definately makes up for it.
