Signature Indian Cuisine

I did the Take Out on Saturday Nov 7 for 6 people and let me tell you it was one of the best Indian meals I had in a long time. We moved from Toronto to brooklin and as Indian food is in everycorner in toronto so I pretty much grew up eating that.. I searched the indian restaurant in whitby and this place showed up and I am very pleased with the quality and the quantity this restaurant provides. Great Meal..

Like the food alot, it sgood to have spiced Indian Taste in Whitby after a long time. We went there for Lunch hoping to eat the buffet as ususal all Indian restaurant, but signatutre didn't have it.
We sat down and looked at their lunch menu I must say wow what a price they offer. we ordered different combos and specails..The quantity is more then sufficent and overall the food is fresh and cooked to order not like reheated buffet. I was with my cowork ers and we all were impressed by the food and service as well. I really recommend this Indian restaurant .... if you are looking for good indian taste and flavours.

I am continually surprised by the quality and value for money this restaurant offers. The food not only looks exquisite on the plate, but it taste fresh unlike greasy buffet . I should say that the service was excellent, server was friendly & very professional, lunch combo's- thalee at other places was amazing for the price of $9.99/-, Tandoori chicken, Naan, Butter Chicken,Pulav rice, salad with refreshing mango dressing, the lamb curry and more ,are all outstanding, the food & service compensates for their interior which is ok…. I have recommended this place to many people and we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch..

We went to Signature last week for Dinner and enjoyed the meal alot. Roasted Papadums with mint and tamarind chutney came complementary even before we opened the menu's. I must say Tamarind Chutney is to die for nice and thick packed with flavours.. We orederd chef's platter for 4 it had all the appetizers to taste crisp and delicious. for main course we had butter chicken(exellent) lamb vindaloo, tandoori chicken, palak panire , an mini eggplant dish, panire stuffed nan and plain nan with rice.. food came out on time and hot with good serving. overall we had good time.. very friendly service . we'll be back - great to have good indian restaurant in whitby.

I tried Signature for a couple of their lunch specials last week. I started with an order of chicken tikka with naan. The tikka arrived with slightly charred edges and lacked the heavy, red food coloured look that many tikkas seem to have. A good start. The chicken was moist, but, didn't have any charcoal flavour (I assume they don't have a charcoal tandoor). It didn't pack much flavour which was a disappointment.

The naan was excellent, it arrived blistered and had a good chew to it, just how I like it.

The chicken vindaloo was hit and miss, they appear to use chicken tikka mixed into their vindaloo curry. I think it'd be better if they used marinated chicken specifically made for the vindaloo for depth of flavour. I picked out allspice and or clove from the curry but it didn't pack a lot of heat. It also contained more potatoes than chicken. Added to a generous order of rice, the chicken was lost. The curry had a bit of a gritty mouth feel, a slight turnoff.

All in all I enjoyed the naan, the rest was a miss. I didn't feel I got value for the money, 4 or 5 chunks of chicken and naan for $7? same with the vindaloo, generous portion of rice and potatoes, skimpy on the chicken.

I sat near the kitchen as I waited and definitely heard the microwave beeping on more than one occasion. I would have liked to have heard pots and pans, but didn't....

Overall, meh......

I like your Lunch Combos very reasonable price .Good attentive service and the food tastes so fresh, need some deco..

Excellent value for money and great food. The new owners have done an amzing job in such a short period of time and we were very impressed with the food and service. We will be back here for sure.

This place has changed hands in the past month or so and what an improvement!!! We used to go to the old Bombay when the Bangladeshi crew was there and it was pretty good - then it changed hands a couple of years back and the food and service took a tumble. Noticing that the sign had changed we decided to give the place another go. What a relief!! OK - I will admit it up front I am a Brit.... so Indian food is as close to home cooking I can get. Like most Brits we prefer Northern Indian cuisine to the Southern Dhosa variety.

The ambiance of the place is still being worked on, there are new hardwood floors and leather seating... there are still some finishing touches required... I would like to see some curtains to take the chill off the big windows... but it was -20 on our first visit!

Now to the food! I can categorically say that the first meal we had last week made me feel a little emotional. I have lived in Canada for 11 years and I can categorically say that this was the best Indian meal I have ever had here. The food is fresh - the tandoor flavours come through - the portions are generous and the selection superb. It really shows that the chefs are professionally trained.

What we really enjoyed was the authenticity of the dishes... cooked fresh and piping hot... the Korma was a revelation and the Malai Kofta soft and comforting. The fresh naan breads were perfectly cooked (no uncooked doughy overtones like you get in so many places).

Having run the gamut of Indian restaurants in the Durham region I am very pleased to have re-discovered my new "local". The staff are friendly and accommodating - don't be embarrassed to ask them about the dishes or to make special requests - you can have a MILD Vindaloo! (Or nuclear if you wish... but order several bottles of Kingfisher beforehand). There are nice touches like complimentary popadums and the place is taking on a family atmosphere. There is also a take-out service so you can grab a great food experience on the way home.

My family love Indian Food and we all were really satisfied with the Siganture Indian Cusine new years eve buffet . Butter Chicken and Fresh Naan Bread ws my fav. Good buffet setup for the price compare to leading buffet places. There menu also looks good we will be back. I personally recommend this place and no more driving to Toronto.
