I've lived in Whitby for 9 years and drive up and down Brock Street and have never dined here until this past weekend. While we were home thinking about somewhere to eat and tired of the chain restaurants and their high prices and poor food, we decided to try this little place we've seen so often. Next time we will make a reservation. The bistro iself if very quaint but not huge. Service is lovey and personal and the food is TO DIE FOR! My only regret is having driven by so long and never been in. My husband and I will be back again and again! Gordon Ramsay will have no complaints here!

Great food, Great atmosphere. I go here regularly because I know that I can always have a good meal for a good price with one of the most authentic French atmosheres to be had in Canada. I feel qualified to say this as I have actually lived in France. In fact I have eaten at French bistros in France that can't touch this place!
Bernard and Manon are great hosts and I always am made to feel welcome. The wine selection is superb. - Order: Mussels, lamb stew, bergere, tart tartin and a really nice "crianza" Rioja

Yuck! We really did not like this place. The food was boring and tasteless. The wine followed suit. The portions are very small for what they are charging.
Our server seemed rushed. We could hear the bell ringing in the kitchen, over and over again while our order was being taken. Don't go here if you want to have a leisurely dinner, you will be rushed. Brush up on your French if you do go, because the owners insist on speaking it to you regardless.
In my opinion they should retire, they have lost their passion. C'est la vie! - Order: steak and pasta

Good food, but overpriced.
As a vegetarian I had to settle for whatever was meat-less. The carrot soup was pretty good. My husband is a big meat eater and even he wasn't impressed.

I am a food, wine and travel writer in the GTA and would like to mention several things about this bistro. I have eaten there many times not to review but just because I like the welcoming "French" manner, the impeccable cleanliness and the great food!
I have had many visits to the South of France and this place has it all.
Two things I must comment on: Bernard and Mannon take pains to serve the highest quality food and it always is served perfectly. The wine that they serve (I have seen their small cellar) is through either Private Order or Consignment and thus not on General List though all wines at a restaurant/bistro must go through the LCBO. By the way, who said General Lists are bad! Many restaurants have them.
I would heartily recommned this jewel to any who wish to have good food and a jovial/relaxed atmosphere. - Order: Lentil soup, Salmon Filet, Pinot Noir

I have frequented this establishment many times. Manon used to be an impressive host that took the time to meet her clientele. Now everything is Rush Rush Rush. Gone are the wines they would pick up at various vinyards. Now its whatever is in a box at the LCBO. Starters are tired and uninspired.
Specials tend to be okay. Menu items are old and cold. Don't bother with them. DON'T EVER go for their off menu selections. Vile. I was served a pork "chop" that was poorly cooked and virtually drowned in a watery and tasteless tomato sauce. The rest of the meal was equally poor - seemed like they cooked everything the previous night and just warmed it up. What was once an interesting bistro is now just another place to avoid in whitby. It is obvious the owners are bored with the place and the food shows it. Save your money and make what they make at your own home for 1/10th the price and 5 times the quality.

Pour service allthough the restaurant was not in any way full .There were three specials on the caulk board , as we ordered the server informed us that they had just served the last of the specials even though it saw only 7pm on a Wednesday. I understand it's a Bistro but I think the server just graduated from cloun collage. Some my find it funny that your sever ask if you need a cainsaw to get through that ,not me . That's not what I expected from a nice looking place like this to bad!

This restaurant is overpriced. I was served a cassoulet dish that was still cold in the middle. We told the server and they took it back to the kitchen to warm it up with no excuses or anything. Not impressed with the price they charged. Atmosphere was ok, quite noisy. Will not return.
