Mondo Ristorante

The wife and I are newcomers to Whitby, and not educated when it comes to Wine and food. Decided to go, the price was cheap $65.00 per person for 4 courses and 4 wines. The wine sommeliers were amazing and we no longer look stupid at a dinner party. Just from one class.......booked for the following week. You should try it.

First time there and we heard so much about it. We saw the commercial on TV and decided to go. (Keg goers all the time.) This place is awesome. The Seafood plate was incredible, Oyster Rockafellar with tappanyaki mussels were to die for. I cant believ they put a Macaroni and Cheese dish on the menu. The chef who made it did an incredible job, apple smoked cheddar with lamb sausage(creative). My husband says its the best steak he has ever had. To sum the night up we tried this homemade apple cake with there own maple walnut icecream. It topped the night. Thanks Mondo for a wonderful evening. Service at its best. This restaurant is not just Good, its EXCELLENT.

I will never come to this restaurant ever again. The atmosphere was bery unprofessional. I came with a couple of my business partners and was embarressed to suggest this place. You have a bunch of people at the bar yelling and cursing at one another. I'm sure they are all regulars. Furthermore, the food wasn't anything special. The mussels tasted like there was sand in them. The risotto was too dry. I've had better creme brule elsewhere. My experience here was a disater. Never again!!!

This was my first time to this place. I took a date, and thank-you Mondo. I finally realize what Flawless service means & the food is outstanding. Listen to all out there, just ask for the sommelier(did not know what this was before this visit)he paired wines with our meal and its was outstanding! We are very impressed! The food network and Mondo are our new thing. Its about time we go to a place eat, drink and get educated at the same time. They even make there own desserts. Ela and I say Thank You!

This restaurant was the most amazing restaurant experience I have ever had! We both had the tasters menu, with paired wine. The food was the most incredible ever. They pair the wine with the food PERFECTLY! The riesling danced on my tongue with the smoked salmon, The wild mushroom risotto matched the earthy gamay wonderfully... Sauternes with foie gras... Pinot with pork tenderloin with bourbon grain mustard. I cannot say enough good stuff about this restaurant. Elegant dinning at its finest! Bravo!

Catherine and John Smith: I suspect that you are owners who cannot handle criticism. Mondos was better than Casey... but not for the price! And the crab cakes (whenever they were on the menu, I can assure you they were on my hubbies plate), and they were not better than the average big box restaurant. I too, enjoy fine dining, but certainly I don't dine at Mondos 1-2 times per week. Let people review, don't try to discredit others for stating opinions. I certainly have better things to do than make up such a detailed "fake" review. Marci Cascanette, Whitby Ontario.

I just wanted to respond to John Smith, who stated I was a restaurant owner, I can assure I am not. I did not go on Jan 1st, but it was AROUND that time. The computer made me choose a date!!! Please stop making assumptions. In my opinion, Mondos was not up to par, and reviews that reflect will only help them to improve (not that I'll be back).

WHY GO TO SUMMERLICIUOS IN T.O. WHEN YOU HAVE MONDOLICIOUS. FOOD IS AMAZING! BEEN TO ALL PLACES IN DURHAM AND THIS PLACE IS THE BEST. MADE MY HUSBAND SPOIL ME, AND HE DID WITH THIS PLACE. NO COMPETITION! LADIES THIS IS THE SPOT

Ehh..nothing particularly special.

I was at mondo on Saturday for dinner with My girlfriend and there was no pasta specials. I thought I would mention that. The food is brilliant worthy of a 10 in presentation and taste. The pasta(risotto) was made to perfection and my girlfriend still talks about the lamb. Was in itlay in the summer and risotto was almost as good.

Stayed for drinks after at the nightclub and it was fun!
