Mexico Lindo

We've been going since it opened, and we were recognized by the service staff soon enough. They automatically starting making our salsa for the chips with their special smokey hot sauce, since we originally always asked for it hot.

The first time we went, they messed up the orders and we had to wait a long time for them to correct it. I would have though they would have discounted something on the bill or offered us free dessert or something, but that wasn't the case. However, the food was good enough that we went back (and even took my mother in law).

I always try to get something with mole and diablo sauce as well as chorizo and generally everything is well done.

Pleasantly surprised!

Don't let the outside appearance scare you. Inside this restaurant you will find a clean, friendly, cozy atmosphere. Some may feel to decor is overdone...tacky!?!
The service was fast and polite. We had our meals before we finished the tortilla chips they provided when we were seated.

Despite not being a fan of Mexican food I was very happy with my meal (a combo...I think it was the Acapulco).
The portion size was perfect, just enough to make me content and not stuffed.

There's a reason for the line up! The atmosphere and food are so incredibly tasty, it's hard to try other places. Small venue but excellent food if you can squeeze in.

Given the outside appearance of this place, it took quite a while (plus a few positive reviews from here) before I ventured in for lunch.

The decor is okay... it's starting to show signs of wear but it was generally clean and had its own personality.

The (I presume homemade) tortilla chips they serve while you're ordering are nice. The salsa is very mild... almost bland actually.

Lunch jumped up a few notches when the entree arrived... served on a piping hot plate, the burrito was stuffed with large chunks of chicken, and was resting happily in a tasty mole sauce with the rich flavour of chocolate I'll not soon forget.

Alongside was a nice portion of refried beans, savory rice, and a small salad with a zingy bit of dressing.

In all, it was a hearty meal, with a portion size big enough to satisfy without having to loosen the belt. I'll definitely go back and sample a few more of their dishes before casting a final verdict.

Great food - which is what we were hoping for...reminded us of being back in Mexico. Service was good - we went right at 5 PM, so we had no wait/lineups. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Heard good things, but were disappointed. Appetizer over priced for what you got, my combo plate had sauces that made everything look the same and soggy, the refried beans runny...don't understand all the fuss about this place. Great to hear others like it, but we won't be back. There are other better choices in Whitby for Mexican fare. As far as drinks, there isn't much you can do wrong with a bottle of beer.

This place is great... the owners are to be commended for what they have done with the interior - very warm and welcoming and the noise level, although high at times added to the experience. Noticed the owner/manager ensuring that people who were waiting for tables had a Corona while they waited. Service fast, accurate, and the food ---- WOW!

The food was excellent, as always, and the wait staff was very attentive. As this business has gotten busier and busier, they have gradually added more staff. I had to ask them to pack up half my meal because I couldn't eat it all and they were happy to oblige. I've had many excellent meals at this location...sometimes better than others...but I'm never disappointed. When it's good, it's good...and when it's great, it's awesome. The Ajax location is excellent too...but the live Latin music on Thursdays and Saturdays is a little loud and somewhat annoying. Adios!

Hubby and I were kidless for the night and enjoyed 2 scrumptious "Acapulco platters". The service was very prompt and very FAST! they cautioned us that our plates would be hot and the food was very hot and fresh. My only regret was that we didn't try dessert - but I'm on my way back later this week and will do my best to pace myself towards a dessert menu.

We got there, were seated fairly quickly, got our drinks orders fast and ordered our food within 5-10 minutes of being seated. 1 hour later......................still no dinner. I see people ordering take-out well after we have been seated getting their orders and I know something is wrong. The waitress finally comes over and says that ours is next. After another 5 minutes during which I can see the server over by the kitchen window seemingly arguing with the kitchen personnel our food arrives. Start to eat mine when after a few bites I notice that it's not what I ordered. My daughter's is wrong too, but she doesn't want to send hers back because she's hungry and can't wait another hour. Mine I send back but tell them I don't want anything else. The server does bring us a deep-fried ice cream on the house, but when we get our bill, we are over-charged for one item. Anyway........Never again ........
