  • We've been here many times for lunch and the food is quite tasty overall (stay away from the Tokyo rolls though unless you enjoy eating fish food). They have a good variety on their menu. When they first opened they had some issues with cooking their chicken dishes, but they seem to have resolved that now (after we were coaxed back by friends to try again). Service is hit or miss. We've had them bring the wrong items or miss things on various occassions. They're usually quick though. Not our top AYCE sushi place, but we're still repeat customers.

  • We had a great time. Most of our group are downtown T.O. Sushi eaters and were quite impressed with the service, the prices and the especially the food. This was our 2nd time there - first time we took someone from Vancouver who loves sushi and she too loved it. Would recommend it to anyone.

  • A disappointing experience overall

This was my third visit to this new entry into the local the AYCE sushi market; this time I brought my family, overall the experience was a let down.

Facility: the restaurant is very modern and stylishly decorated. The banquettes (benches for booth seating) though are uncomfortable, also not a lot of leg room under the tables. Overall the place looks good, although family members reported that the washrooms were not clean.

Food: the Menu has been the most impressive feature of Go Believe, the extensive offering and unique choices (i.e. steamed shrimp dumplings). On the lunch menu however many Sushi and Maki choices are not available; I guess they are limiting (the Menu) to the lower cost choices due to the low price of the lunch Menu. Many examples of using deep fried and/or sweet (sugar based) sauces to provide flavor and character, another low cost trick.
there were some dishes that were prepared well, however the quality of food preparation and presentation was poor.

Service: this was the area of big disappointment, it was awful. After being seated, we were ignored for a long period of time, finally after waving at someone they came over, however it was another long wait for them to bring a paper so we could mark our choices. I had to ask repeatedly (4 times) to receive water at our table. Servers would not leave a paper for re-order without being asked at least twice (I guess they were told to do this so that you are discouraged from placing a second-third order). For our initial order (it was pretty large) they brought it to our table all at once, filling the table to the point that they stacked dishes upon dishes (it was actually unsafe), when asked to stop, staff didn’t care or respond. Servers were very in-hospitable (no "please”, “thank-you”, “your-welcome”). Even after all this, to my suprise ALL staff left the dining room and went on lunch break (at the same time), leaving the 10 tables of guests to fend for themselves. The final act of getting the bill and paying was not handled promptly either - it took way too long and we finally walked up to the cashier to demand our bill and pay so that we could leave. Our experience with poor service could be explainable if the restaurant was very full, however this was not the case, it was barely 1/2 occupied.

Overall nice decor, a promising menu (although execution and quality is mediocre and inconsistent), however VERY POOR service. There are better Such AYCE dining options in the area; unless things improve, I recommend you pass.

  • Friendly, prompt sevice.

The menu had a good variety of the usual AYCE options. I really enjoyed the cooked foods.

However, the best part of going out for sushi is...the sushi lol. Unfortunately for this place, their sushi has a funny taste. It's not the fish (that's fine)...but the rice that tastes funny going down, and leaves an even worse after taste.

  • When it comes to AYCE im there, fortunately for this Japanese restaurant I was pleasantly surprised. I went there with my girlfriend for lunch and their wasn't many people inside but the service was very quick (of course).

The menu was very straight forward but they brought a few times half of what we ordered and I think this was because of the portion size per order. I placed an order for 12 chicken wings but because they are orders of two I wrote down "6", to my surprise we only got 6 so I was abit annoyed by that. The wings were EXCELLENT but please keep in mind they are drenched in this barbecue sauce and its the only way they bring it to you, so it could be for a selective few of people who would actually enjoy this type of dressing. We ordered the California rolls and they came very quickly and I was pleased with the taste. The shrimp tempura was to die for but its also deep fried so not much science to that!

The overall quality of the food was very good except for the miscounts which I can let it slide, the atmosphere was also deemed appropriate and cannot say much about that. The only thing that caught my eye (well my girlfriend caught this) which was very funny was that one of the male waiters was wearing his glasses but only the frames, the actual lens isn't attached to the glasses, what a class act!

I don't know why the other reviews were poorly rated as I went their twice and everything was wonderful, don't let these negative reviews get to you the food was very good.

P.S. I will mention both times I went there (lunch and dinner) the place was empty so I cannot judge based on a busy seating but could it be it was empty because of the negative reviews??????

  • Order: Miso Salad, California Rolls, Shrimp Tempura, Chicken Wings, Sake, Salmon Teryaki, Chicken Tewryaki.

  • Yuck! The freshness and creativity was almost non-existent at this place. Going with my best friends was the highlight of the evening. I have eaten my fair share of sushi and I ventured to an "all you can eat" - bad move foodie, bad move... we ordered from multiple wait staff, a large number of dishes, which all came within 3 mins (leaving me to wonder just how the chicken came out that fast), then, with a little hesitation, I bit into the cucumber roll (trying to stear clear of the raw fish dishes - defeating the purpose of a sushi place, but trust me...) with the spicy mayo and I knew something wasn't right. If the food wasn't fried, it wasn't fresh, and when the fried food fizzled into cold after a few minutes, it was inedible. Even my friend who ordered chicken wings (and usually loves chicken wings) put them down just after one, while my best friend stuck to the tempura, just to be safe. I could go on and on. Let's just say I was throwing up within 3 hours of the dinner and I vow to never return. Scary and unsanitary. Don't "Go" and "Believe" in this crap. The Sapparo was the saving grace. This place won't last!!

  • The sushi was good, and we had plenty of it. Went there for a birthday celebration. The times I have made phone reservations the staff have been a bit clueless. I think that the servers need to be more outgoing and more prompt, perhaps the lack of this is due to a language barrier. The decor is very nice and modern, and bathrooms are clean.
Despite improvements that could be made to service, I would recommend this place for a nice evening out.

  • Horrible quality. I love sushi but had difficulty eating the food here. This is the kind of sushi where you worry about whether or not you might get food poisoning. With all of the choices in the Durham Region, particularly with the popular 'all you can eat' option, there is absolutely no reason why someone looking for good sushi has to subject themselves to this place.

  • Order: all you can eat. Avoid the Tokyo Roll...in fact, avoid anything with fish!

  • I went on November 2nd to this restaurant and was told I would get 10% off my order because it was still part of their Grand Opening. however, when I went to the cashier, they told me that it was BEFORE November 2nd. Um. ok.. how about customer service and trying to build a rapport with customers?

But the worst part of the whole meal was that they kept messing up my order? They would only give me half of what I ordered without any explanation. I ordered roughly 12 rolls, and we got only 6, and then we waited for about 30 minutes while they kept walking past us. I said where is the rest of our stuff? They said that we received everything. So, we ordered some more, not thinking anything thing of it. This time we waited 45 MINUTES for anything to get to our table. After I politely complained that we've been waiting and that this really is unacceptable, they finally gave us some sushi. BUT, again, they messed it up, brought wrong items, brought items with incorrect quantities, and they gave us this awful heated up sushi wrapped in foil. Worst sushi, but even worst was the service. These people have NO CLUE how to run a restaurant, and I will not be a guinea pig so they learn. Next time I will go across the street, where the sushi is outstanding and the service impeccable.

Another annoying thing, is that the stupid bus boy keeps coming, and taking my plate and soy sauce tray, so when the sushi comes, um, how do i eat my sushi then?

Don't waste your time and money here - there are outstanding sushi places already in Whitby - go to one of them instead.
