The waiters were not polite and some orders they purposely did not do (I saw one of the waiters throw out our order). They also take away your menu so you can't order anymore. They basically forced us out (no menu to order, trashed orders we were making).

  • Went with my husband after he went here for a work outing and kept talking about how good it was. As soon as we opened the door the noise level was out of control it was just like a high school cafeteria. It was fairly busy on this day but we were seated quickly. I was glad my husband knew how to order because I could only imagine how often the employees get asked that type of question and how annoying it must be. We ordered a little bit of everything and it all tasted great except for one sushi roll which we sent back. Tips are added directly to your bill. They also have a giant tip jar by the register if your previous tip already wasn't enough.

  • I figured out how to enjoy Ye's without spending so much money, just ask for the take-out menu and tell them you don't want the all you can eat but you would like to sit in the dining room. I can't eat $20 worth of sushi anyways. I order 8 pieces of sushi for $5 and added extra's on the side. For two people the bill was just $22 including tip. That would have been the price for 1 person. I also managed to take leftovers home without being charged for the food I didn't eat. They don't offer this option unless you ask for it.

  • For a town with such a high Asian demographic this restaurant falls short in almost all categories. Although i have been there a great number of times, all it made me realize is how unfortunate i was not to look elsewhere. Having tried almost everything on the menu i can safely say that the people who run this place are cheap and have no wish to keep their customer satisfied and returning.
The only thing about the food thats great is the taste. But if they can fool my tastebuds they cant trick my eyes and tongue. The fish sometimes comes to your tables frozen, the sushi can be cold and stale, the soy sauce is clearly diluted with water, and red ginger... really? Now maybe YOUR mouth can fit a fist, mine certainly cant. When it comes to biting Ye's sushi you are left with more than you can handle, most of it all over the table. The rice falls apart as you bite and the fish makes for a hasty escape. When it comes to the use of proper ingredients i laugh - most of the sushi is a bad adaptation of the original. Oh and they also arent fresh. Forget about proper cutting techniques, this is First Choice Haircutters of the japanese cuisine.
Two sentences about service (this was one). Sporadic, inconsistent and rude... done.
The atmosphere is that of a high school caf. Its uncomfortable, the tables smell bad because the wipes are reusable and clearly arent washed, and its poorly decorated. All thats missing is my 8th grade English teacher.
You know how they say that if you see asian people in an asian restaurant its probably a good one? There are only white people in this one. Really, if you want all you can eat (i see no other reason to come to this place) then go to Yumm Yaki's. Its a whole new level. I regret spending my money at Ye's and definately regret that a place like this still has business.
Oh yeah the ice-cream was really good. And there was always plenty of green tea :)

  • Definitely not one of my first choices...

I only bothered even stepping in here because my friend was leaving for Alberta in two days and it was the only time we had for our last Sushi date. Our favourite place was closed for cleaning so we were stuck.

For a place that sells Chicken-fried Rice for $9.00 a plate I expected a bit more. The rice looked like it had been sitting for awhile, the chicken was BELOW average at a browney, awkward colour with a very salty and chewy texture. It was neither hot nor fresh and the small ingredients they threw in looked very random in abundance.

My friend ordered the Avacado salad and was satisfied with it besides how it was SOAKED in dressing. There were about 4 avacado pieces and the rest dressing. She also got the california rolls to go and they appeared nice but I was later told they were soggy and rather tasteless.

For regular or all you can eat dining I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Neither this location or the kitchener location. It really is a joke considering its too much of a chain restaurant to get what you actually expect.

  • It sucks that Waterloo has such a limited choices of all you can eat sushi restaurants. Ye's is definitely one of the worst I have ever been to. Their sushi rolls are made with so much more rice than neccesary & are ridiculously huge. This means that after eating 2 rolls, you are already starting to get full. This makes it almost impossible to order a variety of items on their menu. Obviously their aim is to save money, as their customers order less as they become full so easily. In addition, the quality and taste of what they serve is low. And as at most all you can eat restaurants, the service sucks. They are rude and try to avoid coming to your table when you want to order more. Honestly, go to Yummy Yaki's if you are in Waterloo or go to another all you can eat in another city. Ye's is a huge dissapointment & a waste of money.

  • In all honesty, Ye's Sushi is a decent sushi restaurant. Decent yes, but memorable, no.
The price is alright for lunch, but overpriced for dinner, considering that the selection doesn't improve greatly for the difference you pay for the evening buffet.
The food is served fairly quick and a certain amount of detail is given to presentation of the food. As far as the quality of the sushi and sashimi, I've actually bitten into frozen pieces of red tuna in the past.
The sashimi should be served at lunch as well, and more emphasis should be put into the staff noticing when you have filled out your paper and are ready to order.
Overall, if you're looking for a quick fix and don't mind paying a premium price for a Japanese fast food experience with less than premium quality, Ye's is the place to go.

  • I love this place!!!!!
You have to take this place with a grain of salt... Yes, sometimes what you order may not show up, or you may get another table's food, or you may not understand the server, but all in all, if you want to get you sushi "eat-on" this is the place to do it!
If you are a 1st timer - Be warned... Order a little bit at first, and then keep ordering if you are hungry.. Otherwise you will end up sending food back - I've seen it happen 3 times now :)
The crispy white tuna roll is my favourite, along with the edamame, and I'm getting exciting just thinking about it!!!!
Other reviews state its not authentic, but its pretty darn good for the K-W region, I mean, short of going out west, its pretty good for 13.99/person.

  • If you're not an intense Sushi connoisseur, this is the place to be. All you can eat means you can try lots of different things. It all tastes good to me.

Staff are relatively shy. Hold up your order card and they'll come get it. If you want a refill on your drink, let them know or you'll never get it... Your tip is included, so you might as well make them work for it.

Dinner can be expensive, especially on weekends. Go for lunch and save some money.

If you don't make a reservation, expect to wait to get a table.
