  • So my b/f and I stopped here for lunch because it was close to work, when we arrived there weren't many ppl there and the manager seated us.
Our waitress asked us if we wanted drinks, we ordered 2 beers and nachos.
We then even had a "discussion" about the nachos, and off she went.
Returned promptly with our drinks, and assured us she would return shortly.
we then ordered our lunch. (2 sandwiches)
Then after 40min. And watching her walk back and forth past us to serve the table full of men behind us, we asked for our nachos...
She was like, "oh...oh yeah" and off she went,
Then she came back about 5min. later later to tell us our lunch was ready but she forgot to order the nachos...
So we asked to talk to the manager,
then about 2 or 3 min. after after that some guy shows up at our table trying to give my b/f his sandwich.
We told the guy, no way we want to talk to the manager and he went away.
Then another couple min. Later the manager comes out.
We explain what went down, and he offered to pay for our lunch.
Well he wasn't into giving us nachos, and our lunchtime was over and we needed to be back at work.
So he offered our sandwiches to go, and our bill on him.
And since I was starving and I had to get to work I agreed.
We then waited an additional 10min.
And our useless waitress brought us our "lunch"
We didn't get cutlery, thankfully I noticed before we pulled away.
The food was cold, and I could walk to the restaurant from my work its so close, its not like we drove across the city.
    And the portions...hahaha
And they put my veggies in a container, then put my sandwich in another...which is fine, but then why would they put my coleslaw all over my sandwich?
Anyways never ever ever ever will I go back, and thankfully it was my first time...at least I wasn't like a a die hard fan of the place before this....
Oh and don't ever take the onion rings with you they are not only not worth it but really gross "steamed"

  • Order: 2 keiths, veggie flatbread, California chicken sandwich, onion rings. we tried to get nachos

  • We had not tried the Waterloo location before. Friendly waitress who started off unfortunately by spilling the water all over my companion. The caesar salad was perfection - best we've had in years. The cheesy garlic bread is to die for. Our waitress was not very familiar with menu items, and unable to describe or recommend dishes. We chose the 8oz top sirloin, rare. My steak arrived near medium, with almost no sear at all and not a drop of juice on the plate when cut. It was slightly chewy and lacked flavor. My companion's steak was well seared, flavorful, juicy and cooked rare as ordered. They offered to replace the steak but that would have meant waiting while my companion's meal was already done. Instead they comped a $5.50 beer. Not really satisfactory since we went for the steak and at their prices the Keg is a special occassion visit only (it was her birthday). The veggies were grilled, hard, tasteless and not worth eating. The mushrooms were tiny and resembled little brown rocks, and also were dry and hard. If we go back it will be for the caesar salad and garlic bread. I will never order steak there again. All in all a big disappointment.

  • Order: 2 top sirloin classic combos, garlic bread caesar, baked pootatoes, beer

  • I like the Keg because it is always reliable. It's not great, but pretty good for the price you pay. I've paid a lot more for steak and been pretty disappointed.
The steaks are perfectly cooked 99% of the time (tonight they were slightly overdone, but still delicious). I've never had the twice baked potato before, but it was declicious. Standard, good cherry cheesecake.
Waitress was a little slow and didn't know what beers they had. All restaurants should always carry Stella Artois on top or in a bottle. Pity.
Our neighbours had a misbehaving child, but it was no wonder - given his mother was on her blackberry most of the time, ignoring him. Restaurants like this should think about having a section for people with small children.
Still love this place - good, reliable steak joint.
The "no reservation" policy Tuesday to Saturday is ridiculous, so go Sunday if the Keg near you takes reservations on Sunday.

  • Order: Strip steak & lobster with garlic mash. Strip steak with crab and twice baked potato. Beer, cheesecake.

  • I don't have much to say about this place, other than the fact that I will not be eating there again. The food portions are laughable. The ''steak'' was the size of a hockey puck and ran in at $20!!! They completed the dish with a kid size portion of fries, a small slice of tomato with cheese on it, and one small baked potato. I walked out of there hungry and with no money in my wallet. Seriously, avoid this place.

  • Everything was fantastic. We had to be in and out quickly as we were in meetings most of the day. They had us in and out with time to spare, despite the fact the place was very busy. Nice atmosphere, very courteous service and good food.

  • Always love going to this restaurant. Their steaks are delicious and there are lots of other choices if you're trying to avoid beef. I had the filet mignon tonight and it was amazing.

  • They were very pleasent when we first walked in, was not many ppl there when we first walked in. We sat down and had to wait a few minutes before our waitress even approached us. We ordered our drinks and she brought them over we thanked her and she just walked away without even a word. Our food was prepared excellent and it was one of the best steaks i have had in a very long time.

The bill was decent and when we were finished with our food the manager personally came over and took away our plates and asked us if there was anything else we need.

all in all i'd give this place a 4/5 stars, i would def come back here because the ppl were pleasent

  • The last time I ate at The Keg several years ago in Cambridge and I thought it was fantastic. I have also eaten at the Keg in Toronto and London and was always satisfied.
Not the case with the Waterloo location.
I went with a large party of 15. Our waiter/waitress was pretty good until I heard someone ask if they had bread about 15 into sitting down. Usually that is there without question. I was then excited to order some Lobster off the menu and was told they did not have any lobster. This was a party reservation you would think they would advise the planner that there was no lobster as this was something being promoted as a summer special. I heard someone else order an item and the waitress said they were not sure if they had that either. It was starting to sound like a restaurant that was on its way out.I ordered the steak as I was sure that would be good. It was tasty but I found the portion very small and the veggies almost seemed like they were boiled to long. The ceasar salad was very enjoyable and a nice size portion as well.
There were several mistakes on peoples bills as they came to the table.

All in all not what I was used. I have a $50.00 gift card Ill have to use it another location because I wont be going back there anytime soon.

I love the Keg, but agree that the Waterloo one does not seem up to par. The Cambridge location is much better - I recommend that you use your gift card there!

  • Years ago keg used to be one of the best places to go to enjoy a decent meal for a decent price or to just chill in the bar and have drinks and watch the game. These days the outside of the restaurant speaks for itself. Half the tacky neon-red lights are burnt out, along with the large sign at the front.

Although over the past years keg has come out with "new" menus, they've all basically just been adjustments to the old ones. Small tweeks on old items, adding an app or two, price increases and now advertisements for other businesses. They've finally brought back the chili (which is spealt incorrectly on the menu) at the steep price of $8.50/bowl. The only items left on the menu which are worth their price would probably their classic ribs which are still the best in town, and their wings. If you're looking for value, perhaps the the Subway in the plaza is a better option.

There are definitely better places to eat in the K-W area that offer much better value for your dime. Skip this place.

  • First we were given a basket of bread while we waiting for our meals, and were surprised to see 2 small pieces that barely covered the bottom and kind of defeated the purpose of even bringing it over.

The soup and mushroom appetizers were okay, but not worth the price. The waitress didn't offer the specials, and was short, to the point and could care less about anything.

The fish and chips was a joke. I mean, we were actually laughing at the plate of a smaller-than-child's portion of fries, and 2 pieces of over battered empty in the middle "fish" that was sitting in a large pool of oil. Taste was average at best.

That's the last time I'll give the Keg a try.

  • Order: Mushroom/crab appetizer, cream of asparagus soup, halibut and chips, 2 pepsi's
