Ok so my daughter had a hockey tournament and in between games we went here for some breakfast. Despite waiting a little while for a table we still had a great meal!! The service was great and just being back in an old diner like that reminded me of when I was a kid!!
- Order: Mels Big Breakfast!!

first time i went with a friend. the bill came to as $9.02. we both paid a $10 bill hoping to get separate change. what came back was a loony... and so a dispute happened.
second time, i ordered my food for takeout, paid, and sat at the counter and waited. when my food came, a waitress asked me did i pay yet, i said yes and so then i left. soon after, the old waitress came chasing out the door and accused me of not paying. i said i have paid and then she let me go without even apologizing. funny thing was, it was the same old lady with short hair as my first horrible service experience. man she has horrible memory. - Order: mels favourite

This place burnt down along with several neighboring businesses earlier this year. The owner places to rebuild, with a possible opening in 2011. A tiled floor is all that remained after the fire.

At either 3am or 1pm, it's a good place to go with friends after a night of drinking, but the food isn't really that wonderful. It's good value for breakfast though, and their burgers are delicious.

I went here for breakfast expecting a pretty decently priced, decently prepared breakfast with some friends.
The menu welcomed us with promises of delicious meal!
The price immediately turned me off since it's overpriced in comparison to other diners (excluding ihop and Denny's, where the quality of Mels is nowhere near them).
I gave this place a chance and ordered the basic steak and eggs (How could it go wrong?).After a LONG wait (20 minutes at the very least) our food arrived. The meal as a whole was cold and bland. The bread tasted as if it's been in the freezer for months and they just decided to defrost it and put a little butter on it.
Steak was unevenly cooked, half medium, half rare.
Eggs were overcooked on the bottom, burning the yolks and leaving the runny egg whites on the top.I can't imagine anyone thinking this place is good, unless you're too busy looking at the waitresses to notice how terrible the service and food quality is.
I would much rather starve than eat here again and pay a high quality price for terribly low quality food.
Customer ignorance of what DECENT food is supposed to taste like and perversion is keeping this place alive.
Also on a side note: Don't embarrass yourself by bringing friends or loved ones here.
- Order: Unevenly cooked steak, burnt AND undercooked eggs accompanied with terribly stale bread.

Been going to the Diner for 4 years now. despite of how busy they get, the servers are always friendly and professional. I do take some of my clients there for breakfast meetings. The girls know how to handle the crownd. The morning girls remind me of the actresses the "Alice" show, where I believe Mel's diner came from, ( Alice the brunette, and Flo the blonde). Really, you have to check them out.
It is great how the waitresses remember my meals and my drink from my previous visit, and they get it ready for me before i even sit down.
I recomend Mel's Diner to anyone - Order: Chocolate Chip Pancakes ( huge), beny, carbonara and mel's fave ( only $3.99)

Came in for an early breakfast and waited an hour for our food to come out and other tables that came after were served before us.
Our meals were delivered by the chef and was cold.
Had to wait another 15 minutes for our bills.
One waitress working at the moment and the diner was 60% full, the other 40% were waiting at the door for a clean table.
Needs more wait staff during peak hours.
- Order: Egg Combo x 4, Steak and Eggs x 2, Western Sandwich

Mel's Diner is exactly what you expect from a diner. we always enjoy their breakfasts and burgers as well as their sandwiches... I never reccomend ordering entrees like the chili or fish and chips, but I would never reccomend that at any diner... diners do hamburgers, sandwiches and breakfast the best so that is what I stick to! The servers are always very nice and although it is quite often full we never wait too long for our orders! It is a great down to earth place to go and eat and I would reccomend it to anyone!

Went late at night. Mostly burgers and breakfast food. A lot of drunk people, which makes sense because it was late at night. A little over priced for hamburgers, although the portions were generous.
Waitresses were hot.

Mel's is great! Especially in the early morning (we usually go around 8 am). I don't know what everyone else is talking about, but the food has always been what I have come to expect from Mel's which is home-style cooking that tastes great. I definately suggest going for their breakfast menu.
