  • I've never been to this restaurant before, but decided to go with my boyfriend based on the feedback of this site (also the proximity to where we live). Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised that the inside of the restaurant wasn't as seedy as the look of the outside (or the visible kitchen staff). We were seated at a four-person table, but asked to move to a more personal two person table, which was fine.

However, the service was lack lustre. Our server brought us our drinks. Mine, a water with one chip of hospital ice was... well, water. My boyfriend ordered a Ceasar but got water with ceasar ingredients mixed in for colour. His beef was really tough and my meal was the worst meal I have ever ordered. I asked for homefries thinking they'd be crispy and delicious but instead I received a soggy mess of mashed/fried potatoes with onions (which i asked specifically to not have), as well as some cooked from frozen veggies and 1 tiny piece of rubber chicken. I didn't even eat my meal.

The worst part was that our server only came out ONCE to ask us how our meal was/refil my hour-ago-drained glass and ask my boyfriend if he wanted another (which he didn't). However, the only other of our server's customers, an elderly lady and probably a regular, was continually interrupted to be waited on and offer her assurances of her meal. Perhaps it was because we were younger, but the attitude toward us was indifferent AT BEST.

Either way, I will never go again and wouldn't recommend anyone else go unless you are a regular there already and have deceived your tastebuds into thinking that place is good. The best thing I tasted that night was the Pizza Pizza I had to buy on my way home because I couldn't stomache the trash Home Style Diner was serving.

  • Order: small fish meal (baked), Ceasar, Roast beef meal, Coke

  • I took my 3yr old daughter here for lunch. Its hard for me to take her places that are not kid oriented, but still I try, lol.
The server was soo great with my daughter, as well as the hostess. they gave us a quiet table, where my daughter could act 3 and not disturb other ppl.
The food came quick, and was AMAZING. My 3 yr old ate everything on her plate!!!
I am taking husband with us this weekend for brunch, I suspect we will be regular customers.

I could not say enough great things about this place.

  • Order: Rueben sandwhich, and kids meal

  • Cute little place that one would go to on a date or with family. Found out about it from a friend who lived near and said he went there all the time. Its really good breakfast food, for those who love breakfast food.

  • Order: Home fries, Bacon, Toast.

  • Food was great, so was the service. The portions were very generous. I would recomend this restaurant to any one. Most of the other customers were eldery. Next time maybe I'll come for dinner.

  • Order: I had an omlette with ham and cheese and home fries. My husband had pancakes with sausage. Both had a coffee.

  • Went in for lunch. It was an early lunch. No hostess was available so I made small-talk with the only other customers in the place, an elderly couple. Their order was the Oktoberfest Sausage dinner and a Reuben Sandwich. Both were regulars and that was their standard orders.

Based on the reviews of this website I tried the mini-schnitzel dinner, with fries and the daily vegetable, which was carrots. It was good. The fries are homemade, and were not oily or greasy at all. The schnitzel was a a little dry but not too bad. I would have liked a nice cream or mushroom sauce, but I wasn't ordering a Rahmschnitzel or Jägerschnitzel. The wait staff were pleasant and attentive.

Most of the customers were older, and the music was more or less elevator music. I put my mp3 player on and listened to some U2 and read my book. All together including tip it was $15.00. Not bad.

I'll have to try the Reuben Sandwich next time I go. It looked great.

  • Order: Mini Schnitzel dinner, which included a whole wheat bun, choice of potato and carrots. To drink I had a glass of water with a lemon in it to add some much needed flavour.

  • If you are looking for a wonderful home cooked meal this is the place to go. I had schnitzel for my dinner - there is no better around. I eat at Home Style a lot - I have never had a bad meal there and all the food is homecooked. They have smaller portions for those who are not as hunger but even they are more than generous. The food is always delicious and the owners and staff are so friendly.
Home Style is my favorite restaurant whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner (and the desserts are to die for.
I highly recommmend Home Style Dinner

  • I was very disappointed with the liver. It was dry and hard and thin. I regret that I didn't ask that it be taken away. The chef must have overcooked the liver or doesn't know how to prepare and cook it.

The other quests with me were very satisfied.

  • Order: Liver and onions. Other guests with me ordered fish and chips and bbQ/garlic ribs.

  • I loved this place. The thought of completely homemade food kind of freaked me out, but the food was amazing! It doesn't have chinzy diner feel either. It's a supercute little resturant that I think would be good for dates or to go with family.

  • Order: The ribs, fries, pie.
