    • Ahh Harmony Lunch...I remember working as an Intern in the city and my old boss asking us if we wanted to go eat at Harmony for lunch.

    • I've lived in Waterloo all my life and have never been to this place. My colleague and I thought we would give it a go today. We were warned the atmosphere was going to be lame....but it was ghetto! As soon as we walked in...no one greeted us or even told us to seat our selves?

Once we were seated, the waitress came over to give us the specials....beans and burgers I think. No drink order taken at that time. Then another waitress came over to take our order. We ordered 2 burgers, onion rings and fries. As she took our order, she coughed all over the menu's and her pen. Given that we are in the flu season that's really disturbing!

Once we received our drinks (canned ginger ale $3.00 and tap water) I asked for a straw that was not sealed. I felt so gross...that germs were crawling all over the table.

Once we received our meals, I was disappointed with the portion. The burgers were very greasy and small. A little bigger then a happy meal burger. The fried onions were not good...and I love fried onions! The fries were small and thin...I expected a Sonny's style fries with the potato skin on them. The ketchup bottle was the kicker.....no lid and it was crusty! We had to get another bottle. The onion rings however were pretty good.

Only Cash....no debit or even credit? Seriously ppl c'mon, it's 2009!

Will never go back! Someone should close it down or clean it up! Yuck!

    • These had to be the greasiest burgers I've ever come across. It seems you either love them or you hate them and my guest and I were in the former camp.

The milkshakes, on the other hand, were thick & delicious. We'll probably go back just for those.

    • Not a big burger fan except when we visit Harmony Lunch. Nothing else tastes like their burgers, complete with sweet cooked onions. Yum! The place is very retro which says a lot about its location not having changed and being one of Waterloo landmarks. We prefer going in the summer where you can throw your clothes into the laundry right after.

    • The Harmony Lunch in a landmark in Waterloo's history. My Grandfather would come here for lunch, my Father brought out family her for dinner once a week, and now I come with my family.
The burgers are nothing like you'll get at other typical burger joint.
Fresh burgers, made grillside, with fresh fried onions (they peel their onions every morning) and toasted buns (the old fashion-way).
The fries are always heaping and hot.
I know of people who drive in from Toronto just to take Harmony burgers home with them.
Bring some quarters for the jukebox (the same vinyl records have been playing in there for years), don't pay attention to the decor, and grab a seat at the bar and watch your burger cook on the grill. Delicious!
And, bring cash...there's no debit here!

    • Hands down the best burgers in town! I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I can remember with my parents. It is very old and I don't ever remember the decor changing. There is a certain atmosphere here that sends you back in time. I believe it is now run by the 3rd generation. If you're looking for a good old fashioned burger this is the place - if you're looking for fine dining - go elsewhere.

    • Not African cuisine - its Waterloo's premiere 'greasy spoon' restaurant. Hamburgers are made with pork & beef combo & just the BEST! Quick, friendly service, family owned, bring quarters along for the juke box (kids get a kick out of the juke box & love the food - 5&8 years old). NO DEBIT - so bring your cash, or you'll be walking to the bank.

    • Our burgers were drenched in grease, and covered in unusual tasting, stringy onion pieces. I think if the onion were omitted, I wouldn't have winced after every bite.
The milkshakes and fries were pretty delicious.

The place looks a little dingy from the outside, it's a bit of a turn off.
