Simply Overpriced and Overrated!

I'm not sure how this place got voted for the best burger in town, it must be self acclaimed, or the owner has a huge family and they swung the votes?

My first impressions were, well, gross. The place smells of deep fryer, sure I know it's a burger joint but seriously well maintained equipment and clean oil do not smell nearly as bad as old re-used oil and judging from the brown, almost black bubbling pool my fries were cooking in I'd say the last time the fryer got a good cleaning was well....when did they open for business?

Ok, so on to the burger, meh, tasteless, soggy, extremely underwhelming albeit a decent size. Seriously take a steakette and throw it on your bbq and you've got a burger that tastes 100 times better.

The fries were ok but really, how hard is it to cook fries? Again the portion size was huge.

I placed a take out order and nobody asked if I wanted napkins, condiments, no hello, no thank you, no goodbye, nothing. simply no customer interaction at all. It was like they were ignoring the customers and staff just stood behind the counter talking amongst themselves with the occasional flip of the patty.

So I ask for some ketchup totake out with my fries and they give me a few packs of Sunspun ketchup, are you kidding me....I just paid $9.00 for this crappy burger with fries and a pop and you throw substandard ketchup my way. It's Heinz or nothing,the fact that they stocked this other garbage is a clear indication that they do not care about quality, only profit. Keep the ingredients as cheap as possible to maximize profit. I'm all for profit but seriously, when you charge someone $9 for a fast fry burger you'd better damn well use the good stuff.

At least the pop they gave me was in a can, I wouldn't be surprised when they do their next profit review they'll bring in soda pumps and water it down.

If you like a lot of food and don't care how crappy it is or how much you'll have to pay for it I guess you've found your hole but I'll never be back!

It was not only horrible but will go down as the worst burger I've ever had! So disappointing considering we ( my husband and I and our son ) were so looking forward to finally having a burger from what was supposed to be "the best burger in town".
My husband had the Mammoth, myself and my son the Juicy.
All three burgers had a "spongy" texture and frankly, seemed undercooked.. they were pink in the middle.
When we got home, my husband actually complained about not feeling well and actually vomited.
Not a good experience at all ~ we will definitely NOT go back and, in hindsight, would have much preferred a burger from McDonald's.

Yesterday my daughter wanted to go get an ice cream really bad so the 3 of us decided to go to Marble Slab Creamery but considering they had a 30 minute wait we decided to go next door to the Chill n Grill which has a pretty big selection of ice cream, they even make their own waffle cones. So we walked in and up to the ice cream counter and stood there for a bit trying to decide which ice cream to get, So now we are waiting for someone to serve us the ice cream but for at least 5 minutes no one came over. They had at least 5 people working there (4 on the grill and 1 on cash). Finally, tired of waiting, we looked over at the guy working the cash (who was standing there bored) and asked him if someone will be over to take our ice cream order soon. He then pointed up (without saying anything), he was pointing to a sign saying “Order Here”. I said to him that we are not ordering food but ice cream; he said they have a policy to pay first.

My problem is, he stood there and watched us wait for ice cream for 5 minutes and didn’t say a word. Even when I asked him if he could come over to serve us he said he couldn’t, we had to walk over to him and tell him what we wanted then he would go over and scoop it. Why didn’t he come over and tell us to pay first rather than make us stand there like idiots and waste our time? Why is this the only ice cream shop in the world that won’t talk to you before paying them?

To add insult to injury, when I gave him my daughter's order and he told me it was $3 I passed him my Interac card, he then said he can’t take Interac for payment unless it’s over $5. that’s when we walked out.

First time I went to this place was with my friend. I've been in waterloo for about two years now but never went here. Gotta say the burger isn't half bad. Now the burger itself isn't flavoured, which makes sense most burgers aren't, but the toppings are good enough to add that flavour. I can understand why some people won't like the place, because it's not for some people. And they don't have the widest array of burger toppings. But i'm not complaining, they have what's needed on a burger and none of that fancy stuff. In addition to regular toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, hot peppers, relish, onions, pickles) they also have mushrooms, and fried onions. Not bad. I also think these guys have some of the best chilli cheese fries, but then again this is the only place i ever had them in my entire life, so i got nothing to compare it too. Either way its a good burger joint, and has a burger joint feel to it. The service isn't bad, most of the people are nice but there's at least one person there who seems to hate their job. If you can get past that then the food will be satisfying.

I don't understand the hype about this burger joint. The burgers are flavourless, the fries are not great and generally the cleanliness doesn't seem to exist. Harvey's in the same plaza provides a bigger flavour bang for your buck.

This is the most disgusting "food" place I've ever been in. First things first: The place was a dump. the floor was stickier than a movie theatre, the counters were no better, tables had old food crusted on them, and the patio looked like it hadn't been used in 3 years, though there were people sitting on it. Maybe pest removal?

Second best were the fabulous staff. There was a girl picking her nose behind the counter. They were not wear hair nets or hats of any kind. One girl seemed to have a lice problem, and she wouldn't stop scratching her head.

I had been thinking of trying something new, because I'd heard it was a worthwhile place. It's not. It's filth.

The Grill used to be really good, some of the best burgers in town, and a great lunch.

But recently, they changed their ingredients a bit, and not for the better. I'm hoping they change that.

I went in today and man was I completely unimpressed.
A Place I go to on a regular basis has just made the worst lunch I've had.

Half of the bacon was burnt and hard; the guy put WAY too much ketchup on and got a bunch on the top of the bun.

The buns are different (if they keep this change I won’t be eating there)
And man, the fries were soft and soggy with oil, and they were not salted at all.

It was probably the worst meal ever.

I am quite disappointed.

My friends and I go to The Grill often. The food is delicious, and definitly worth paying more than typical fast food.

Best burgers ever, with lots of dressings to choose from.
Delicious homemade milkshakes. Definitly a favourite.
Burgers, fries, and (huge) onion rings fried fresh before your eyes.

Large portions, great staff, and amazing food.

Somehow 9 and 9 add up to 10 for me at this restaurant. The food is great, better for you than Mcdonald's, and the people behind the counter never forget your order. The atmosphere is fairly perfect, but, as for the burgers, you need toppings to get flavor. The burger is sort of there for texture (which sounds negative, but I like it). I could see why somebody wouldn't like this restaurant, but hey their loss
