It's posh, quiet, good food and impeccable service.
I eat here at least once per season , as they change the menu four times per year.
It is a pleasure to dine in their atmosphere. It is quiet, nicely lit, has nice white linens and the wait staff is excellent.
The food is very good if not too exotic. Many dishes are prepared with locally grown organic food allowing it to be as fresh as possible.
The appetizers list is as diverse as the main courses, but I always opt for the table side prepared Caesar salad. It is always excellent and allows you to choose as much or as little of each ingredient you'd like. Load me up on the bacon and croûtons please.
The wide range of meat and fish on the menu is good for those who like different or out of the ordinary tastes. On any night, they may have venison, emu, duck, rabbit, pork, beef and chicken. If nothing strikes me, the beef fillet is always good. They also have a vegetarian menu.
The deserts are always good, but I rarely have room left. Often they will have home made ice cream.
One thing that they could improve on is the wine list. They have in my opinion, a limited number of wines to choose from. In a higher end restaurant, I expect better options, and perhaps a suggested pairing for each dish. This would allow for seasonal wine options too.
With a $40 bottle of wine and dinner, the bill without tip is usually about $120.
The reason I like the restaurant so much is the quiet dining with great staff. You can go to The Keg for about the same price, but you'll have to speak louder and you'll feel like a number. At Charbries, you'll be treated like a valued customer.

The food wasn't bad. It was just expensive for being ok. The prices aren't out of off the wall. Any restaurant is charging the same. But their food isn't creative. The menu SOUNDS great, but in reality when it comes, it's bland. It dosen't make me want to come back for more. When I pay $30+/plate, I'm expecting a succulent meal that will make me think that it was well worth the money.
The service was great. We told them we only had an hour for dinner, and we were out of there in 45 mins.
The fresh flowers on the plate were a nice thought, but didn't go with my meal. They hid the flowers in my ragout, so I had to pick through my meal and search them out.
The place is indeed pretentous. They have every intention of making it a high class restaurant. They do put a little extra effort in. Sadly, the taste of the food dosen't match the effort they put in elsewhere.

Charbies is a great place for business dinners, whether its with our clients and friends. The food is always excellent, the atmosphere is great (I recommend the table by the aquarium!), and the restaurant is quiet such that conversations can always be heard. Locally produced food is also hard to beat!

I'd never tried this place in 4 years of living here, but decided that before I move away I'd better give it a go. I was disappointed with the food...it was stone cold. The waitress was quite nice but overall the place fell short, especially for the price.

The food was excellent, beatifully served. The service was also excellent up to the point of departure. I asked for my bill at 8 p.m.; got it in 25 minutes. It was for $44 so I gave the waiter $60 cash. He asked if I want change. When I said yes, I do, I got back $6, $10 less than needed. Of course, I got profuse apologies when I asked for the extra $10.
Further, the noise level in the restaurant was painfully high. - Order: Caesar salad, alaskan cod, white house wine

This place was very pretentious. I must say the apps(lobster bisque and mussels), were quite elegent. The entrees on the other hand were pathetic. I have more meat on my fingers then on their lamb entree. The steak my friend had was not seasoned and not easy to eat. The waitress was very nice actually. Inbetween courses they served us a berry sorbet to 'cleanse' our palats. I didn't find it cleansing at all! The seed got stuck in our teeth and the sorbet stained out teeth and mouth- not attractive!
