Benny's Family Restaurant & Lounge

Piggy knows that breakfast is one of the most important meals in a day. As the empty stomach can be sensitive especially after a night of drinking.

This is why Benny's should try to be the best breakfast place around. As currently other options are limited Angel's - absolute crap; Mel's burned down and Cora's is overpriced.

On the last visit we were sat on the patio and the hungry crowd was happy to see their orders come back relatively quickly.
However there were a few shortfalls:
Hollandaise Sauce is not legit. Tastes floury and out of a packet and lacks flavor and substance. It can make or break a beautiful piece such as the Eggs Benedict.
Beware of burnt toast! Some of the toast we received were literally burned, I could not believe that the server dared to offer them to us. We sent them back and so should you.
One of the things that really bugged me about this place is the Table Syrup. Oh what a sin! Oh what injustice! How can, in the land of beautiful, natural delicious Maple Syrup, how can they dare to serve this high glucose fructose syrup crap and ruin my day and my pancakes? If you too feel this way bring it up with the manager! Support our heritage!

Now the rest of the stuff at Benny's is pretty decent. Coffee is not undrinkable, and the eggs are fresh. Most of the food is well prepared and the hash potatoes are nice and crispy and not too greasy.

Now please Benny's work on improving it all, or I will have to find another breakfast place!

We discovered Benny's about 6 years ago when we moved to Waterloo and were renovating our kitchen. We had just walked out of a dingy place across the street where we had wasted about half an hour without service. We wanted breakfast and we were very hungry. We saw a huge line-up at Benny's and as a desperate attempt to avoid a Fast Food Breakfast, we gave Benny's a try. We could not believe how efficient they were. They took our names and in exactly 7 minutes we had a table and were eating breakfast a few minutes later. Actually, what took the longest was getting the bill (in comparison of course). We always go back, especially for business breakfasts or lunches when we need fast service and good food,

Went to Benny's today and it was just as good as the last time. Can't get there often enough. Had the prime rib and it was very tender and good. My friend has the smoked meat and she loved it. I have never been disappointed with Benny's. They are fantastic. Will definitedly go back.

I had been making Benny's a regular lunch, trying to slip a visit in about once a week.

On my LAST visit, i was seated, but had to wait until the waitress made her way over to me. I saw at least 2 other tables have their orders taken from tables seated after me, and I hadn't even had a visit from the waitress. After 10 minutes of sitting without even a drink, I walked out of the restaurant, choosing another establishment.

Hey wait staff, just because I dining alone, doesn't mean you should head for the bigger tables before serving me.

Won't go back.

We had gone there bright and early for breakfast. It is a very classic looking restaurant that offers warm and friendly service. We were the youngest couple by far in the restaurant by about 30 years, which made it seemingly adorable and quiet.

The service is really fast. There is always somebody there to help you or refill a cup or ask if you wanted something else. Therein lies the problem for us. We enjoy a simple, quiet, and slower breakfast. The service is great but almost too great for we didn't really want to be hounded periodically every 3 minutes for drinks or other foods and deserts. If you like fast paced service and attention maybe this would be better for you.

They are really set to combos though, and if you want to alter them you can be set back an extra 3-8 dollars a plate depending on what you want. The drinks are on the higher price range as well. about $3 for a chocolate milk.

That being said the food was good. you do get quite a bit of food. The quality and taste is all there but I dont believe it is worth the cost for as soon as you add up exactly what you wanted you are paying about $30 for two plates and sides.

If you're close by and see Benny's its worth a drop in to try. I wouldn't call it my everyday breakfast establishment though.

A bunch of us from work go here after night shift monthly, their breakfast is really good. Its always packed by the time we're leaving at about 8am, the service is good, the waitresses are always friendly. I haven't been here for lunch or dinner, but I would highly recommend the place for breakfast!

My mother and I went into Benny's for the first time today as I will be attending WLU in the fall. Fantastic meal, fast service and great prices. We both had the breakfast special and fresh squeezed orange juice and it was great. Super convenient for me to walk to and they even take Laurier cards. :)

This place is good for breakfast. Don't waste your time going there for lunch or dinner because the food is just not worth your money.
Benny's breakfast is amazing and its cheap. The place is always packed for breakfast service because the food is cheap, delicious and fast. During lunch and dinner time its usually pretty empty, and last time we went we had some sad looking salads and sandwiches.
Moral of the story? Breakfast = good. Lunch/dinner = bad. :)

Went to Bennys Saturday afternoon and ordered their celebration souvlaki special. I have to say, it was better than the Danforth in Toronto. The atmosphere was nice and friendly and the service was great. However, I happened to be sitting near some complainers who didn't like their food because it took to long. If you want fast food, go to McDonalds. If you want good and plentiful food, come to Bennys. I WILL BE BACK!!!!

My friends and I went there for breakfast and it was MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. My eggs were perfect for dipping my toast and my sausages werent burnt. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family and I dunno whats with all the bad reviews. You need to get your taste buds checked.
