  • Walking by you might not take a second look, sitting there is sort of like what ever but once you eat their food you are bound to be impressed. So my boyfriend found this place on-line one night after looking up places to eat near by. I am in love with this restaurant. I am a simple girl that appreciates the small things in life and details. I recommend and only order the fish of the day. On valentines day I had an amazing cod fish wrapped in phyllo with veggies - it was amazing. The time I went in before that I ordered a fish that I cant remember the name of now it was served with this mango salsa stuff that had thinly diced mango and cucumber. Both the fish and salsa was on top of wasabi potatoes. Alone the potatoes were very odd, together all the flavours complimented each other so well and it had great texture too. My boyfriend always finds one side he likes in a restaurant and sticks with that, at the swan its pork chops with veggies and a sweet potato purée. Every time I leave the swan I am thinking of what I ate for days. My birthday is coming up on the 11 of March and I plan on going with my close friends to celebrate and share the gift of really good food with them. These dishes are so unique, innovative and all come in a great presentation.

  • Order: Oysters ALWAYS > Love their cocktail sauce, pork chops that cam with veggies and sweet potato purée, fish of the day= perfection

  • Not sure what other reviewers are talking about. I had a horrible experience.

Place stank like rotten cheese. I was dismayed at what I received, looked like cat food. It was raw, uncooked, and there was something weird in my food. That applied to 2 of the 3 of us...and there were different dishes. I asked to see the owner....after TWENTY minutes, he finally came. I showed him these mysterious brownish, black beads in my burger, and he accused me of placing them there!!! I was beside myself!!!!! As you can imagine, we had a pretty heated conversation. I could not believe how the owner treated us..., insult after insult, he even had the balls to comment on my race (which I will refuse to write here)

Needless to say, the Toronto Health Board was quite interested. I've been here before, it was ok, but after this...NEVER AGAIN!!!

  • Order: Burger with "black Beads" wtf?

  • We needed to find a brunch place prior to going to a Saturday Jays game and I checked on Restaurantica for some suggestions. Once in the car, I plugged the Swan into my GPS and followed directions to get there. When we pulled up in front, we were dismayed by the appearance, but being a huge fan of Diners Drive Ins and Dives, we decided to take a chance.

The place is small with booths down one side, a small seating "bar" at the front on the right. Probably seats 40-50 people at best. There were only two empty seats when we arrived - usually a good sign. As well, most of the crowd seemed younger (20s-30s).

For brunch my wife had the omelet of the day - asparagus, red peppers, spinach and cheese. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and we both asked for coffee. The coffee (espresso) was delicious but refills are NOT on the house. When brunch arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavour and portions, Our server asked if I wanted any hot sauce - I said sure and was delighted to get a homemade (or sure tasted like it) bowl with hot sauce in it.

Both our meals were great - we loved the toast that came with my wife's omelet, and the potatoes were done "crispy" which my wife loves.

Total was $34 including tax and I happily gave a 20% tip for the food and service. Only one concern - if you are seated near the front of the restaurant during a cold day, there is only one "door" and it could be cold.

Looking forward to returning before another Jays game to try out lunch or dinner menu.

  • Order: Huevos rancheros and omelet special.

  • I've been going to the Swan for several years and I've always been impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. It's one of my favorite go-to restaurants when I want to have a quiet dinner or show off my neighbourhood to people from out of town. It's not difficult to get a reservation, in fact I'm surprised they're not busier.

I've been there for brunch, drinks, dinner and dessert all seasons of the year and the menu constantly changes while maintaining a high standard of quality. Never had a bad experience with anything I've ordered.

Go Swan! I hope you stay put for a long time.

  • Order: Brunch, dinner, drinks, dessert, pretty much everything at this point

  • Went on a Friday night for dinner - Oct 1, 2010. This is the best meal I've had all year. No joke. I started with the best arugula salad I've ever had (with Chevre). The braised beef short ribs were fantastic in a great beef marmalade sauce, served with good veggies and good buttermilk mash. My friend ordered an excellent fish special with sesame crust and pomegranate reduction - great portion, lots of flavour, great rice preparation.
Interesting wines. Bread pudding was a little bland, but we split it and it gave us a little sweet ending to our meal. Will definitely go back again.
2 glasses of wine each, cappuccino. $109! Fantastic!

  • Order: Short Ribs, Fish Special, Aruguala Salad, Red Wine, Bread Pudding, Cappuccino

  • Smoked artic char salad is wonderful. It is worth the visit alone. Oysters (from Oyster Boy) are always fresh. Steak is consistently quite good. The atmosphere is perfect, lots of booths with the original chrome. Always very busy, especially brunch so expect a line up.

  • Order: oysters, artic char salad, presecco, steaks, scotch and coffee

  • My hubby and I ordered coffee and the above ... a large plate of potatoes (home fries) covered the plate with a tortillia with a smattering of black bean paste with two hard fried eggs ... totally unacceptable. I liked the two fresh orange slices though. Brunch is tough but it can be done properly ...

  • Order: Huveros Rancheroes (?), coffee
