Sushiman Japanese Restaurant

i decided to try sushiman based on these reviews, but was not impressed...firstly, i didn't like the menu selection, having very little in the way of sushi/rolls and limited/no descriptions for what was listed...we both had the tea & edamame & they were fine; i had the tuna & salmon sashimi and the enugi & avocado roll, neither of which were listed on the menu (oddly i was given the choice of either eel & avocado OR eel & cucumber: why not both; i got the impression that both would cost me more!): the sashimi was fishy and did not sit well with me; the roll was very small, the smallest roll i've ever been served and had little flavor...very strange for eel...although i ate this small amount, i didn't eat all the sashimi as it had made me feel bloated and nauseated; my friend had the deluxe dinner and had no complaints that he shared with me...i would have sent the food back if i were with someone i knew better...i really should have regardless...I'M NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!

The food is always very excellent and authentic here. Of course its packed at lunch but service was still good. Sashimi and sushi is always excellent. The lunch menu is limited than the dinner. At dinner time they have some harder to get authentic items not found in other Japanese restaurants like oshitashi (Japanese style cold cooked spinach). Tani-san is always at the sushi bar and I prefer the more relaxed and personal attention one gets at dinner time. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant for authentic Japanese cuisine - you should visit at dinner because of their expanded menu selection at and a relaxed atmosphere at dinner time. Try the Omakase which means you let Tani-san decide what to feed you and one surprise after another comes to delight the senses. I tried the Dinner for 3 at dinner time with two other guys from the office and we really enjoyed it. It had multiple courses with good balance of meat for us guys and some sushi to start as well. One of the most authentic and best sushi in Toronto hands down! Highly recommend.

The most authentic Japanese food in Toronto - been to many of them, and this is the best. It's also good to try to Chef's menu - lot's of unique dishes and Tani-san, the Chef is entertaining when you sit at the sushi bar.

i have been to almost 30 Japanese food restaurants in the past couple of years...by far, this is in my top 3!

ABSOLUTE, hands down, without a doubt, the BEST SUSHI & SERVICE in town!!!!!! Everyone in TO should come here on a regular basis.

Excellent food. I would definatly eat there again. Then only problem....long waits for lunch! This resturant does a good business so getting a table can be hard, however once you are in the service is great and they will put a rush on your food if you are limited on time!

the food is authentic Japanese food - one of the few sushi chefs in Toronto who is from and has been trained in Japan. Have eaten in many sushi restaurants in Toronto and this is the best - the ingredients are fresh and tasty. In addition, the price is reasonable. Will definitely return.
