It was the WORST chinese delivery ever, food took over an hour, we ordered 3 dishes, one being the highly raved about ginger crispy chicken, fyi, it was disgusting, drenched in chili oil, stringy and tasted really old, the chicken fried rice was mushy (how a chinese restaurant can screw up chicken fried rice is a mystery), and the szchuan broccoli, had only 5 pieces of broccoli in it, the rest were onions and peppers, and was again drenched in chili oil, and the worst part is, everything came to 45$!!!...I feel sick from all that oil, and so disappointed that we waited so long and paid so much for crap food...do yourself a favor DO not go here.....

Being return customers I noticed that we prefer to go with the tried and tested meals since we have been disappointed in the past.
On this visit however we decided to go outside our comfort zone and try something different. We were impressed with our decision and will definately be adding these new dishes to our favourites from this particular restaurant.
As per usual the service was somewhat haphazard (as a result of how busy this place ALWAYS is!). However, we managed to have our meal with no remarkable problems whatsoever.

We have visiting Spadina Garden for about 25 years. My children have grown up with this wonderful food and love it as much today as they ever have. All of us have introduced many people to this wonderful cuisine and noone has ever been disappointed. Sometimes we eat in the restaurant but take-out quite a bit. We live out of their delivery area but call ahead and pick up whenever we can...once a month This food ranks high on our list of comfort food. Whenever we ask our children "What would like for dinner?" they always answer back "Spadina Garden!!!" One of the wonderful house specialties is the Spicy Peanut Chicken...an excellent dish. We love it!

Crispy Ginger Chicken is THE BEST dish they make there. Crispy and spicy and SOOOOO good. I've made many friends try it, and they all went ga-ga over it. They've redecorated the restaurant, and I think its such a huge improvement (quite tacky before, previous to 2007). Service is wonderful, very quick and courteous. Very doting on keeping the tea hot!!!

The place was packed. The service was good. The food is excellent. Our only gripe would be that they should have brought everything to the table at the same time. We got our veggie noodles first. Then our chilli chicken, then our chicken in ginger sauce and finally our rice....but we thought they'd forgotten about our rice 'cause it took a while.
Food is very tasty - though the dry chilli chicken, I would probably not order again. Service was quick - we needed to make it to a movie on time and we ordered, ate and had our food packed in under an hour. - Order: Dry chilli chicken, chicken in ginger sauce, veggie noodles, shrimp fried rice

Spadina Gardens is always a treat. For thos who don't know, SG is not serve authentic Chinese food and neither is it Americanized. SG serves hakka cuisine, which is chinese style cooking infused with Indian style of cooking. This is why their food is so spicy and flavourful. Service is typical of Chinese food restaurants, where they take orders and serve you, but do not fawn over you looking for tips. The service is straighforward and sufficient.

My family (including my extended family) has been going to Spadina Gardens for the past 10 years. The people are friendly, efficient, clean and professional...and the food is AMAZING. Tasty. These are the dishes we commonly order.

Firstly, to be fair - we ordered in for delivery service. I've rated the efficiency of the delivery service instead of the amenities.
Secondly, I felt compelled to write a review (which I never do) because I was misled by the other reviews. I am not touting myself as a Chinese food connaisseur but I am Chinese and I know how quality Chinese food is supposed to taste. This is not it...I've even had better non-authentic Chinese food than this. The so-called signature dish, Crispy Ginger Beef, is dry and greasy. I couldn't even make out what it was.
Thirdly, the man that took my order over the phone wasn't really rude, just not very sensible. Instead of repeating the order back to me like many other busier establishments do, after taking my credit card number he just hung up on me. I didn't know when to expect my food. I didn't know how much was being charged on my card. On top of that, I got a dish I never ordered and was billed for it!
Note that 'big bok choy' chopped up into smaller pieces is their interpretation of 'baby bok choy'.
I should've stuck with New Ho King - never a disappointment for delivery.

This is a clean, reasonably valued, Americanized Chinese restaurant. By Americanized, I mean alot of sweet, gooey sauce. Probably catsup, kikoman, and ginger. The hot and sour was as good as any, although there was no pork in there. The service was 'efficient', and was a packed house with people doing the business-lunch thing. Still, it probably beats >95% of the bland, disease-ridden restaurants that litter chinatown.

I have eaten here many times and it is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Toronto. If you get a saucy dish like the peanut curry chicken or the orange ginger chicken, get extra rice to soak up the sauce. The food tends to ba a bit on the spicy side so be careful - if you order it with extra spice, you might not be able to eat it! Extremely good value in the heart of Toronto.
- Order: Wonton Soup, Crispy Ginger Beef, Rice, Asahi beer
