A friend and I stopped in for a quick meal, as we were on a time schedule due to an upcoming concert at the Royal Conservatory across the street.
We found the food was fresh and delicious. It was nice that we were offered a pot of green tea for free to clean our palates.
Our food came within a fairly quick time frame, considering they were busy. I thought the price of $8.00 was very good for the portion served.
Even though the ambience could have been a little better, the price was right and we would definitely both go back again. - Order: entrees - veggies with beef over rice

Visiting Toronto, we were excited to see this restaurant after a visit to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). The restaurant is right across the street, so we gave it a try. Nothing fancy, but being upstairs, most tables have nice views of Bloor Street West and the ROM. Food was great. Ordering was unique in that they leave a pen and you fill out your orders and amount totals. Sodas served cold in cans, which was a bit odd. Still, we were happy overall and went back for another meal during our week stay.

I've been going here for about 8 years - and I'd never had a really bad meal, until recently.
I went for dinner and ordered the same thing I usually get - the pork vermicelli with spring roll. Usually it's hot and good - and they give you the big bottle of fish sauce. Service is usually good, not great. But good.
But this time, I don't know what was going on in the kitchen. They were not really busy, a few empty tables.
My food arrived - and I started to mix in the bowl of fish sauce. The noodles were cold and hard. They were shaped like the bowl. The meat was not hot. The only hot thing in my dish was the spring roll.
I figured that a bit more fish sauce and chilli would loosen things up - but I was wrong. I didn't have time to wait for another meal. I ate a bit of the noodles and most of the meat and spring roll. It was not tasty. The hard dry noodles were almost disgusting.
They obviously had a line up bowls with noodles on the counter that they just plopped the meat on as ordered. Then put a spring roll on top. Who knows how long my noodles had been sitting before I got them?
Usually - it's good. But just one bad experience like that has definitely made me think twice about ever going back.

In my personal opinion I find the best food comes from places that usually may be cramped, or may have so-so service. Pho hungs is probably one of my favourite restaurants downtown. If you're looking for something quick, cheap, and absolutely delicious phos is definitely the place to go.
They aren't going for elegance, but thats not the point. The food is delicious and cheap. And as a student whose time is limited, money is short, and nutrition is at an all time low I find Phos the best place to go.
Favourite place to go. Enough said.

Pho Hung is a horrible restaurant, with below average food, terrible service, and questionable cleanliness.
Food: The food used to be good, but has quickly degenerated. Pho is supposed to be flavorful, with the bits of meat cooking in the hot broth adding a distinct taste to the soup. Alas, the pho here was little more than boiled salted water. The strips of meat available were minimal. The vermicelli and spring rolls were cold and hard, almost as if they were reheated before being served. The iced juices they serve are also terrible - too much processed powder, not enough fruit.
SERVICE: The service is surly, which is unsurprising considering that management apparently pays close to slave wages. The food never comes on time, requests for more tea and water are frequently ignored, and plates are taken away before one is finished eating. Management also has the habit of randomly accusing their predominantly student clientele with bizarre 'crimes'. For example, a friend was recently accused of stealing a menu (?). Another friend was accused of not paying the bill previously - this is preposterous because while most students are on a tight budget, who would really attempt to get away with stealing a $5 bowl of Pho? Others have mentioned that their servers provide *particularly* bad service to people of African descent; coincidentally, those two friends who were accused of stealing a menu and not paying the bill were from minority backgrounds.
HYGIENE: Servers carry glasses of water via the rim of the glasses, so their fingers are (almost) immersed in the liquid. Countertops are sticky. The kitchen has random bits of cardboard acting in lieu of proper kitchen mats - interestingly, vegetables are propped onto these cardboard mats.

I have been visiting Pho Hung since my university days and I have always found it to be decent food and a good value. The serving sizes are generous, the service is quick, and the food tastes good. The tables are a bit cramped, however, and the place is often packed and noisy. I'm sorry to read that the previous reviewer had such a bad experience there, but I've always been satisfied.

I possibly do have many complains about Pho Hung. First, napkins are only served by persons (1 per 1). Second, bill is placed on your table before you're finished your foods. Third, long waithe foods, sometime they may forget yours. It happens all the time. Fouth, this is the worst thing happens and it's my personal experience.I used to work at Pho Hung last summer and to be honest, we- servers never get any tips from the customers. Why? That seems a good excuse when my owner explains that he's paying us by this money?!? That's true. Since then,I've never given any tip at any Viet Restaurant I visit cuz I know the servers are not going to get it. It's damn unfair!
- Order: duck soup, snail vermicelli, spring rolls, halo halo, durian milkshake, fresh shrimp rolls.
