  • My fiance and I went to this restaurant to go have a good meal. We thought the food would be close enough the Peach Garden on Spadina, the one we always go to. When we went in, I asked if they were open (note: this is at 11:30 AM) and the waitress says "YES" with an attitude. I then said that their open sign was not turned on thats why I asked.
My fiance ordered pork chops with rice and I ordered a "beef soup" apparently, and a spring roll appetizer. As soon as the food came I automatically knew something was wrong. I noticed that I didn't get any noodles with my "beef ball soup" even though on the menu the "beef ball soup" is under "NOODLE SOUP" so I talked to the waitress and told her that I thought I was ordering beef ball noodle soup and if I could get that instead, she then says that the only thing they can do is just make me the noodle soup, and I said okay because I didn't think they would charge me a meal price for it, which is $5.50. The waitress comes and brings me which looks like a plain noodle soup and then I automatically knew that she would charge me for it. My fiance says his pork chop tasted like iron and that the spring rolls was boring and he'd had better tasting spring rolls in a Vietnamese restaurant before. His portion of the food was horrible and not enjoyable like it usually would at the Spadina location. For me I was pissed because they should of been cleared on their menu and not put the headline "NOODLE soup" if there wasn't going to be any damn noodles. I would never ever step in that place again, it feels like you might as well eat crap in your closet because the atmosphere was boring and dark.

  • usually, when i enter a vietnamese restaurant, i am greeted by the smells of anise, fried garlic, and thai basil.
when i entered peach garden, there were no aromatic smells; i should have paid attention to that initial observation...

i ordered 1 beer, 1 med. bowl of pho, 1 order of chicken spring rolls.

i tasted no roasted ginger, no roasted onion, no star anise in the broth of the soup. the amount of sliced beef is slightly below average, and there was no small pile of finely sliced onion, green onion and fried garlic on top of the soup. the bean sprouts were not crispy and white, just an off colour of beige and limp. the taste of the broth was quite bland. the chicken spring rolls are okay, but abit greasy.
the price of the pho is on the high side, considering the lack of quality in the dish.

all in all, i would recommend that you AVOID this restaurant in this area and ....

check out the vietnamese restaurant in gay town called 'ginger' or head out to Rua Vang (Golden Turtle)
125 Ossington Ave; this is one of the premier spots for vietnamese beef noodle soup....

    disappointed...
