My husband and I did a review on this restaurant before we decided to order, and thought we would take a chance.
We were so happy when the food came to our house, because everything looked so good and smelled great!
We love Chinese food and this will be our permanent spot! - Order: Shanghai Fried Noodle, Lemon Chicken, Beef/baby bok choi, steamed rice
- a little above average

the food is generously portioned for the price you pay,
I ordered the chinese "Broccoli in Garlic Sauce" and it came this overly sweet - very THICK liquid sauce that was far from garlic (it should have been called "honey garlic" or something), definately not the clean fresh broccoli stirfry with real garlic that I thought I was getting
it was so sweet and disgusting ... the sauce was so thick and it was NOT garlic, I think it was a powdered sauce - ugszechuan green beans were delicious - a chef's recommendation
the chow mein are huge, they come in deep plates with so much noodles on the bottom (and less of the veggies/meat) that you'd have a hard time finishing it alone, or feel bloated and unhealthy afterwards
Seriously, I see *at least* one plate of half eaten food thrown out per table, its a HUGE WASTE and discourages me from ordering more than one dish - especially when you have to pack the leftovers in nothing but styrofoam containers
---
they have a couple of HUGE tables that take up too much room and when there are no small tables for groups of 2-4 people, you're forced to sit with another smaller group on that large table =( - awkward
and the room is so small that the people waiting (during evening hours especially) are LITERALLY 2 feet away from where you're eating and usually they're staring at you
---
are there other restuarants out there with such "good value" (portion wise) for your money and still have some authenticity to their chinese food? probrably not
are there other restuarants out there that have better value in terms of taste, authenticity, maybe more reasonable portions, friendlier staff, better atmosphere and setting? definately yes
----
order the MAIN dishes carefully, I can hardly finish one---
oh yes, that fish tank at the back is usually in most chinese restuarant, the idea behind that is that customers can see that the restaurant has "fresh" fish (i.e. still alive and holed up in a tank), don't ask me how a fish thats been swimming in a human-made tank for weeks etc. is considered "fresh" .... - Order: Garlic broccoli, szechuan green beans, rice, veggie chow mein, chicken chow mein

They can get very rude sometimes. And they like to change prices if you decide to deliver and it doesn't exceed 20 dollars.
Out of a lot of Chinese restaurant that I have been to in this Chinatown, this one is the most tasteless.
It is pretty cheap, but Lucky Dragon is right beside them and they are cheaper, they give you more, they are very polite and it's REAL Chinese food.
This place gets a lot of business though, I don't know why. I guess lots of people like basic tasting food, who knows.
But if you want real Chinese food (and what I mean by REAL Chinese food is that Chinese food tastes better than any other food because Chinese food is the BEST),
Go to Lucky Dragon.

This restaurant offers great food and value for your money. It is in desperate need of some upgrades, its kind of an eye sore. They also need to be a little more accomodating for parties of 2-4 many of the tables are for larger groups. If you plan on visiting at "prime time" expect to wait, there is no waiting area so people are standing up right next to your table as you eat, so it can be a little uncomfortable.
Overall, great satisfaction for food, not so satisfying of an atmosphere.

My boyfriend (35) and myself (37) are Chinese food freaks and going to this restaurant is always a treat. It is by far the best Chinese food restaurant in the GTA! We have tried others and have been sadly disappointed.
The hot and sour soup is simply incredible and their New Ho King special fried rice is to die for. These two items are always on our list of "must order". We have tried a variety of items on their menu and have never walked out disappointed to date. Their portions are HUGE and they have the cheapest prices in town. You definitely get the biggest bang for you buck here. This is no typical mall type Chinese food either ... this is the true authentic kind.
The only negative thing about this place is that it is in desperate need of a face-lift. The decor is old, the carpet needs to be ripped out and burned and there are too many extra-large round tables available and have very limited seating for parties of 2-4 people. There is a fish tank with fish, lobster and eel that doesn't quite make your dinner experience very appetizing if sitting close by and it's staring at you in the face. So we always try to stay away from being seated close to that area. Other than that, this place is amazing. Trust me you will not be disappointed!

The calamari was typical. Spicy and salty as stated in the menu. However, the chicken chow mein was ridiculously salty. We chose this place to eat after a night out in Little Italy because of the recommendations and rave reviews about this place, but man, were we disappointed! If the food hadn't been loaded with sodium, we probably would've enjoyed it a lot more. Perhaps the food is better during the day.

The food was adequate and really cheap. The lunch specials are especially affordable. The waitstaff was quick but not very friendly (not rude, but definitely not personable). There are definitely better Chinese food restaurants on Spadina, but this one is probably one of the best value ones.

I've been going here for sometime now. I love the food (there are some exceptions), and it is so well priced.
If any issues, I'd say they over salt the calamari, and the meat in the sizzling platter never seems cooked well enough.
For what I pay I have no complaints (!), I wish they'd not allow the homeless beggars inside the restaurant asking the customers for money... its a bit of a turn off. - Order: a sizzling platter (chicken, i think) chicken fried rice calamari dusted in spicy salt egg foo young beef lo mien

- Order: This restraunt is the best chinese food i have ever had. Price is not a big deal to me to a point, the prices for fresh yummy food and gernerous portions are excellant. The decor very plain, the service average, food makes up for it. often a line up.
