Le Papillon

This restaurant has been a memorable experience for me. My first experience has for some reason always stuck in my mind for years now. The food was delicious! I always order the tarte au pomme a la mode! It tastes great! Service was great even for our large party. I would recommend this French cuisine to others.

There were 6 of us on a Saturday night without reservations in downtown Toronto and they seated us within 5 minutes. Food was timely and delicious. We were a little cramped and it was too dim but overall excellent place.

Excellent food. Would definetly go again. One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Very much a Quebec style restaurnat.
Service was a bit slow at times but it was a very busy night.

My absolute favourite restaurant. I have travelled the world and have a zest for fine cuisine. The atmosphere is quaint, welcoming and whisks you away from that "downtown" feeling. Some of the best, friendliest and most entertaining servers in the city. The food is outstanding. The thing to keep in mind is that this is a QUEBECOIS style French restaurant - do not expect a Parisian experience. It is good old, homestyle Quebecois cuisine with a little something extra (ie. the tourtiere and the onion soup).

Service and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Food was okay, little bland and a bit cold. would not recommend.

Food was excellent, service was good, we made a reservation and were able to get a great table in front of the wood burning fireplace. Menu and wine list very reasonable - good selection of wine in the low $30 range. Our party had 4 appetizers, 4 dinners, 2 desserts, and 2 bottles of wine for under $200 tax included.

Been here too many times to count... have had the privilage of some excellent table locations... service always fast... not overly friendly, but efficient.
Food is not what I would consider to be "French", but rather Quebequois. Very reasonably priced.
Many of the staff seem to have been there for many years, and well versed with the menu, and patrons needs.
Would never regret suggestioning this place.

I ordered Crepes Bergere - a curried lamb crepes. However, to my dismay, the one I was served was clearly not lamb curry as it contained bacon, cheese, etc. Presentation was bland and unappealing, especially for a restaurant specializing in French cuisine. Ambiance also left much to be desired. I've been to French restaurants in St. John's Newfoundland that were more appealing.

We ate at Le Papillon last year for our anniversary. WE made reservations for a corner table (private) and at first they stuck us at the worst table until we complained, but they did give us what we wanted. The food we ordered was excellent, the salmon, and the dessert was "tarte au Sucre ( maple sugar pie- french canadian) It's really hard to find Tarte au sucre, so I was really happy with it! The service was pretty good, the bar tender was friendly, but our server was a little stiff and robotic, in other words not very friendly, but this is a french restaurant. WE hear the crepes are one of the best in the city , although we did not order them. I would recommend this place for high quality french cusine.
