The good - fish was nicely chosen, none of that mushy/grainy stuff from the cheapo places. Service was fast for the take out order we placed.
The bad - maybe just an off day, but the rice was still warm when the Nigiri and Maki were made, leading to slightly cooked fish near the edges. potential problem with raw foods in the mix

The wrecking crew decided to live off the fat of the sea. Turns out nicster didn't know what that means. I dont really like fish or animals that live in water besides Swedish swimsuit models, mermaids and sea dragons. I really like rice though, because its so little.
- Order: Something with rice

My girlfriend (aged 21) and me went here recently and we had sushi. She is very into sushi like crazy and me too now. So of course I am now into this asian cuisine. The Sushi rolls were a new experience for me (I recommend the Italian and the Jalapeno). It was good to see someone fusing lots of different tastes and styles together from around the world. Ichiban was a really sound place, they recommended dishes and he also explained how he put them together. Like I say, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
My woman was impessed by my sense of adventure - Order: jalapeno, rainbow, californi and other rolls even tried eel and my girlfriend admired me

Took my girlfriend for a surprise pre-christmas dinner, because nothing says Christmas like sushi! Made reservations but it didn't matter because the lady that took them wrote it in the wrong day in her book, but you know what that was okay because as we waited they brought us tea and were extremely appologetic and the service from there on in was top notch! The wait staff really make you feel like you're the only person there and the food was very very good. The seafood soup was excellent, and if you order the love boat be prepared, it arrives on a model ship that is the length of the width of the table, and it comes loaded with a great array of sushi, fresh and delicious and between the both of us we only came up to about 60 dollars. Considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients you can't beat that. From now on it's Ichiban on Queen for us.

Arriving in Toronto without researching but knowing that my partner and I wanted sushi badly. We pulled out the yellow pages and found the Ichiban sushi advert and went for it. Myself being a dubious soul thought "why do they need a full page ad in the yellow pages? Is this a last ditch attempt to get people in?!" How wrong was i when we arrived and we welcomed to a warm and inviting interior with kind and friendly staff.
The food that we had was excellent quality. We regularly have sushi and this was some of the best. The fish was very fresh and all the ingedients were top notch.
I have to say that that red dragon roll was spectacular.
We had a lovely meal in a nice place with music at a suitable level.
We went back again two days later and it was just as good if not better!
- Order: Over two meals :miso soup, sushi platter, sashimi platter, rainbow roll, red dragon roll, tempura, dim sum. Asahi, saki, wine.

I've lived in Japan and I've lived in Vancouver for 10 years. Moving to Toronto was a sacrifice when it came to my love for sushi... until I found this place! The salmon sashimi is to die for - marbled and melts in your mouth! The owners and staff are very friendly. I've eaten at many sushi places around Toronto and unless you want to pay much more than it's worth you don't get the quality of fish and a pleasant experience like this one. The only bad review I've read about this place comes from someone who doesn't like to eat fish... don't go to a sushi restaurant if you don't like fish! If you like sushi - you've found a good place. Ichiban means #1 and it delivers!
- Order: wakame salad, gyoza, miso, sushi rolls, sashimi, sake, many more

This place is fantastic. I highly recommend it. One of the best value sushi restaurants in the city and I've done my T.O sushi research. The service is impeccable, the ambience great and servings incredibly generous. The sashimi is particularly good and 2-3 times the size of servings elsewhere.
P.S. Paul Shenton's review is hilarious. My suggestion is that if you don't like fish DON"T GO TO A SUSHI RESTAURANT. It's like going to an Italian place & complaining that their Greek food sucks. BTW, there are delicious non-fish options.
- Order: almost everything on the menu

Great sushi compared to others in this area. I'm sure you can get cheaper, comparable meals in other parts of the city, but for the Beach, this is the best deal and best quality. Friendly staff, lots of freebies (like extra noodle soups, agadashi tofu at dinner). Great value for lunch specials.
- Order: bulkoki, maki lunch, sushi lunch, sashimi lunch
