  • I have only been once and I have wanted to return a number of times, but they are only open during meal hours (I think they open at 5:30pm for dinner). It's a "sharing" sort of deal, each item I think was $9 and everything is appetizer-sized. My friend and I ordered 1 soup (a bit less than $9) and 3 dishes, so we could try a bunch of stuff. I remember being pleasantly surprised and I've been planning to come back. It's definitely a treat!

  • Order: gnocchi w spinach, sweet potato soup, cornmeal in tomato sauce (sorry I can't remember a whole lot)

  • I've been to Fressen numerous times and am always blown away by the food. I think it's best at brunch, but very tasty at dinner too. Another review mentioned having bad service, but I've always found the staff to be very friendly. One small complaint - the last three times I've been there the espresso machine has been broken so no lattes or cappuccinos. They need to get that fixed! The coffee at brunch is one of my favorite parts!

  • Order: Brunch - Sweet Corn Fritters, sprouted quinoa salad

  • I have been to Fressen twice now. The first time was around 2006, and I could not have hated it more. The service was slow, the food completely average.

That was then. I was 'forced' to give it another try recently, and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. We had a large group of people and therefore ordered 10 dishes and the dessert. The dessert (always the same) is wonderfully presented. The decor is not my style, but many people seem to like it. The food was a notch above. I cannot lie that I liked all ten of the dishes, but I did not hate any of them; some of them were simply more suitable to my palate than others. The presentation was immaculate - much better than I remember it being two years ago. The servers were welcoming, warm, and gracious. I'm glad I've tried it again, and will definitely be coming back. Finally, for a fine dining restaurant, the cost is far from exorbitant.

  • Order: Most of the salads, starce, and Vegetable dishes

  • I am a vegan so I do not have much eating out choices thus get to repeat many places. Fressen is all vegan restaurant, so it's good to not worry about what's in the food all the time. The food is okay, I never was impressed by it, but appetizers are very good. Entrees are boring. A huge chunk of seitan (which still taste like wheat) with steamed vegetable around it. You get bored very fast.
As the dessert goes, last time I was there, it was still Avocado chocolate thingy. There is only one dessert and it hasn't changed for over 3 years. Great creativity.

What's worst about this place is the servers. They are very very rude. I once waited 45 minutes to be served. They often forget water, bread, appetizers, desserts... you name it. If you ask for a menu or something, they act as though they are doing me a huge favour. And they NEVER smile. Everytime I go there, I swear never to come back, but being this the only vegan fine dining in Toronto, somebody always brings me there for my birthdays. Thank god, now I let everyone know that I would never go back to this over priced place with guranteed spoiled birthday.

  • Order: Hot chocolate, Chai tea, all the appetizers and entrees had been tried from repeated visits. All the brunch items
