Far Niente

Attended summerlicious and food was ok but the service was not good. Waitress got both my friend and my dessert order wrong and gave us a look and attitude to tell us that we had gotten our own orders wrong instead of her (which was false). Will never go there again as the food was not spectacular enough to make up for the bad service.

I went there for Summerlicious yesterday and was very disappointed. Even though atmosphere is really nice, portions were teeny tiny: for an appetizer they brought a salad ( just couple tiny leaves) and 3 halves of shrimps on top and for main course they brought a piece of salmon with pea puree underneath( it was very liquid and barely covered a plate). We paid 65$ per person and left hungry. I really didn't get it: you still have to keep your standards up even for the Summerlicious menu. Another thing: it looked like they had just one waitress yesterday, which served like 10 tables at the same time..Won't go again.

So I had been to Far Niente once before and had a moderate experience. This time was a bit different; I had a bad experience with my food (meat was undercooked...burger was not pink but RAW in center)...called the server to take a look as my customers at my table ordered the same dish and theirs were fully cooked. So she calls the manager to take a look and talk to me. So the manger comes to the table and argues with me in front of my customers that it was in fact cooked even though burger was pink and raw and noticeably different from the others at the table. After the kafuffle with the manager, he unkindly offers me another choice of meal options...I declined and needless to say, will never book customer meetings or personal dinners at Far Niente again!

My wife ane I visited on a whim. Well we were not dissapointed. We were greeted very quickly and seated. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The chef worked under Gordon Ramsay..so figures why the food was so good. Not cheap as I ordered some of their amazing wines!! but worth it!!!

Tiny servings for the money.

the salad appitizer was quite small and pretty over priced for what we got but on the upside it was tasty and fresh.

the main steak dinner was suberb, perfect cut of meat, cooked to perfection, very very tasty

i got the 2 scoops of sorbet for dessert. one scoop of the raspberry and one of the mango. the raspberry was better than the mango. sooo tasty and fresh/real tasting.

for drinks i got a soho martini - also well done, with just the right amount of alcohol

We visited Far Niente with our kids and had a great time. For a fine dining restaurant they had several drinks our kids liked. The restaurant has a very nice wine list, although surprisingly very weak on Bordeaux. This could be because the name Far Niente is based on a Napa valley vinery so mostly california blends where there have their depth. I was told the term "Far Niente" means "do nothing" in Italian. My wife loved the ravioli, and I had the sea bass. It came in a tomato broth with mussels and shrimp - like a Bouillabaisse which I am not a huge fan off, but the sea bass itself was fabulous. The meals were all presented very well, and promptly, and we were able to get the check when we asked for it, and the staff even helped us get to our parking. I had read good things about this restaurant and aside being weak on the Bordeaux or Super Tuscans, I cannot see much to improve with this restaurant.
