Anh Dao Restaurant

I’ve been really addicted to Vietnamese foods lately so I decided to try out the small family run Vietnamese Restaurant “Anh Dao” on Spadina. I’ve heard around that this place was famous for it’s Nem Nuong (BBQ Pork Sausages) so I decided to try it out. Turned out to be the best sensation my taste buds have ever experienced! Vegetables and herbs came in a bunch which was soooo crisp and fresh! I also ordered the Grilled Shrimp on Sugar Cane which was also very tasty in the wrap and the Vietnamese pancake that turned out to be crunchier then I expected (thumbs up for that!). Really good hands on-food experience and will most definitely come back when I’m feeling creative and hungry!

Like most Vietnamese establishments, the dining is casual and flexible. This restaurant has been a favourite within the community for quite some time now. And it's one of my favourites too, for Nem!

Nem Neung is a dish with small bbq'd pork sausages that you would wrap in rice paper with vermicelli, vegetables and herbs. Then Dip in a special sauce and eat. Rinse and repeat. The vegetables here are fresh and crispy but lack variety (due to seasonal produce). The sausages, pork and wrapped beef, were flavourful but not overdone.

More sauce, vegies/herbs and rice paper were readily available upon request. This made eating, drinking, talking and laughing uninterrupted and enjoyable.

This kind of experience is for those who don't mind playing with their food in a casual, relaxed setting.

The food is authentic Vietnamese, fresh and flavourful. The service is prompt - they get you what you want. Very flavorful broth in the pho. Worth checking out.
