  • Called and left a message three times to book a reservation. Finally just emailed and got an email back from the owner saying they were closed.
THAT little bit of info would have been nice to know before I'd tired ALL WEEK to get a hold of them!!! This was to be a surprise birthday party for my Mother.

  • I have not been there in years and we decided to tyr it out. I was surprised at the price for the amount of food. I would much prefer my favourite resaturant by my favourite chef at Crazy Fox Bistro. There are much better restaurants serving gourmet foods for this price!

  • Order: 8oz rib eye steak

  • I've heard good things, so we had to try. Food was delicious! ... but portions quite small. Service could have been a little more polished and friendly for this level of restaurant.

We let ourselves be convinced by friends to return and try it again, and at this point we're convinced this isn't the restaurant for us.

  • I've tried three times to get in to eat at the Village Inn after hearing rave reviews from friends. Each time we've called for reservations the staff have been barely civil on the phone. I persisted because I kept hearing about the great food. When we finally managed to get in, we were in awe of the beautifully decorated old hotel turned restaurant.

It was busy, and there was staff everywhere. Normally a good sign - until we sat for 45 minutes with no service. I got fed up and asked for service. The whole night continued to be a disappointment, with no attention given to our table of three people. The food was overcooked and warn instead of hot. Drinks sat empty for so long I gave up hoping for a refill. Table next to ours complained to the management about the lack of timely service, which continued to confuse me as there was staff everywhere! Overall a huge disappointment, unfriendly people - we will not be returning.

  • The food was great, the steak mouthwatering. Our waitress Erin was outstanding. Mature, knowledgeable service with a pleasant sense of humour. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. I loved the pictures, the antique chairs and all the seperate dining areas made it so unique. Our waitress took us on a guided tour. Overall, The Village Inn is a refreshing change from hustle and bustle of Barrie restaurants and we would certainly recommend it to all.

  • Order: A Caesar salad to start, mediocre, amazing steak, everything was cooked perfectly. Creme brule was divine, you could see the settled vanilla bean at the bottom of the dish. A bottle of Trius Red.
