Raja was amazing! I have been to several Indian cuisine establishments (coming from Toronto) and this place was amazing! The food, service and atmoshpere were exceptional and the smells that came from that tandoor oven were AMAZING! Not only did they know how to make excellent drinks (try thier fuzzy navel), but they know how to take care of their customers, before we left to see Hamlet after dinner, the manager offered us an after dinner drink on the house! It was amazing! Very clean, hospitable and so Friendly! If you try this place, and you have to try the butter chicken and Tandoori Chicken! ENJOY!

We live very close to Stratford and we always take guests here. The service is very good, strike that, excellent, and reasonably priced. We've done the take out several times - very good deal and ... my mouth is watering just thinking about it - I only came to this site to find the phone number!! Thought I'd better say something.
p.s the revue there by Jeff J is simply incorrect - must be mistaking it for another restaurant or something $50-$99 per person???!!! How many bottles of wine did you have Jeff? We get the take out meal for 2 for around $43 and it lasts all weekend, sure you pay more when you eat in but we have never paid even $50 per person including wine and doggy bags to take home (we don't have a dog, but don't tell them)!!! - Order: Set meal for two
- Worth the drive to Stratford!

What a tasty find! An Indian friend who has travelled extensively tipped me off to Raja, and I will definitely tell friends.
The room is beautifully decorated, and absolutely spotless. The bathrooms, while in the basement, are also nicely decorated and very clean.
The food was delicious, especially the lamb sausage in the appetizer selection. Portions were large for two people, and the leftovers were quickly packaged up.
We found the service to be good - polite and reserved, but helpful.

It's good to go with a big group as we ordered all platters and just keep trying. I can barely remember their names, but it wasn't spicy and very tasty

We went there last year during festival. I can not remember all dishes we had. but there was platter starter, 1 mild chicken, beef curry, veg, rice, indian bread and excellent sorbet. excellent food and service. In spite of too much busy, we got food on time. Restaurant manager inquired if everything was OK. nice decor inside. excellent place, perhaps best restaurant in Stratford. Definitely we will see you Raja this year festival time in stratford.

A wonderful dining experience. Not the first and certainly not the last. The food is carefully prepared and lovingly presented. The heat was perfect. It did not overpower the great flavours in the dishes. The service, as always, was impeccable. Zafar is a great host. Definitely a Stratford favourite for me.

Our dining experience was absolutely
excellent. The service was prompt & attentive. Our waitress seemed to know the moment we were ready for another course. She was friendly and helpful when we asked about our menu choices.
We received a complimentary appetizer
consisting of a flatbread & various chutney dishes. Nothing was overwhelmingly spicy. Everything was a perfect blend of spices to tease the pallette. My husband is not a big fan of spicy foods but he raved about his dinner and wants to go back again with our friends and relatives. We left feeling satiated, pampered and wanting
to repeat the experience. Excellent food. Excellent service and wonderful ambiance. The restaurant decor is beautiful. The food presentation is exotic and unique. A wonderful dining experience all around. Recommend this
restaurant very highly to anyone interested in a great dining experience. - Order: Cocktails, dinner for two, bottle of Chardonnay, dessert.

I'd read these postings before choosing to give it at try. As far as the service, we were pleased, but the restaurant was quiet this afternoon and so did not expect any slow service. Our server was pleasant, knowledgable and very professiona. The decor was a nice surprise - elegant, but comfortable. I would recommend that if you are planning to have a meal here, take your time! Don't be in a rush, the food is too tasty and the atmosphere pleasant. We wished that we had made time to sit and have chai and dessert, I'm sure that we would not have been disappointed. Having grown up in Stratford, and having seen many restaurants about town, I do recommend a meal at the Raja. I know that I will be looking forward to returning again.
- Order: We came to celebrate a birthday: we ordered lamb korma, butter chicken, channa dahl, rice pilau, garlic naan, tandoori chicken and salad. DELICIOUS! We've lived in India and currently live in Mississauga where there are plenty of options for Indian cuisine and this truly was the most delightful we've tasted outside of India. The butter chicken had such a wonderful undertone of flavour that hits you seconds after you've tasted the butter and tomato. The lamb korma was rich, creamy with coconut. The rice dishes were truly light and flavourful, not oily as some can be. I think that the naan might have been a bit soft, but was still flavourful. The plate of chutneys with the papadum that arrived as an appetizer was a colourful and sensory pleasure. Yum!
