Down the Street Bar & Restaurant

I have eaten here at least 20 times over the past three years and I wouldn't go anywhere else even though other places in Stratford are good. The distinguishing factor in the food at DtS is flavour. Let me say again: flavour. No matter what you order from the small but thoughtful menu which changes with the season or whether you choose the always interesting daily special, you know that the flavours will be full and rich with a presentation to match. The friendly, warm welcome, the knowledgeable and personable wait staff contribute to a relaxed, comforting dining experience. The place is small and one might feel a little crowded but it's all packed in here, along with a partially open kitchen (good ventilation though ensures no clinging odour on clothes like another place I've sampled in town) make it convivial and satisfying. Not cheap but really good value. June, July, August reservations are essential although you can usually but not always find a seat at the bar.
