Crabby Joes Tap & Grill

I am always impressed when eating at crabby's in stratford as the service is always super fast and compared to other crabby joes in ontario they are not shy with there portion sizes.

We went to Crabby Joe's in Stratford to join party of 11 for birthday celebration. It was not overly busy and there were lots of wait staff working but we were only assigned 1 waitress for 11 people. From the time we sat down it took 20 mins for the waitress to take our drink order and serve it, then another 10 mins before she took our food order. After that was taken we did not see her for 45 mins until I flagged her down inquiring about our food and asking for drink refills. Off she went and in the meantime a party of 3 well known local residents, came into the restaurant and within couple mins 2 waitresses were there serving them and within 15 mins of sitting down they had their entire meal. In the meantime within our being seated an hour and half had gone by before we got our meal which was a huge disappointment. Only 10 of the 11 orders were delivered and of those 10 meals 8 went back with cold food. The 11th meal which was thai beef was forgotten and when it was hastily brought the staff person stood at the end of the table with this dish on fire, flames literally shooting out. When the fire died down, he brought the meal to the table and put it on the uneven crease of 2 tables pushed together. The person whose meal this was had difficult time with it as was very hot and hot grease was sputtering everywhere onto the brown paper cloth on table, onto me who was sitting next to him and onto him. His meal was burnt and he ended up getting his meal free as a result of this. Everybody else's cold food was replaced however, it wasn't the whole meal which meant the remaining portions were eaten prior to them arriving. I complained to the waitress regarding the splattered grease on my shirt and arm and the table etc and she said I will make note of it and talk to manager. That didnt result in any satisfaction nor did writing the Obsedian Group who owns the chain. This isn't my first Crabby Joe's experience but it is my worse and has put them on my list of places not to go to.

All chains are not created equal of course and this chain tends toward the lower end of the scale in my mind. The other night I had Nachos. There is no one in southern ontario that knows anything about making a good plate of nachos. Everywhere we have been...even in the big smoke...they are hopeless. Crabby's nachos were the best we have found so far. A good sized plate, ample cheese, salsa, sour cream, seasoned ground beef, onions and then the problem...they said they had Jalapeno peppers and even warned you about it on the menu. I think they were joking...I never found a jalepeno on the plate. The usual road house food, not particularly spectacular in any way and certain things better than others. GF had a chicken sandwich and of course the chicken was dry as a bone. This was the case last fall when we were in with her daughter. Avoid chicken on this menu. Last visit I had a burger and it was fine....not outstanding...but fine. This is not a fine dinning destination in any way shape or form. It is in my mind the bottom of the chain road house style establishments. Still it is ok for a quick drink at the bar and if your kids aren't fussy the food is passable.

Best sandwich I have had in awhile, I am craving it again! Salad was nice too. Great atmostphere and curteous staff. My husband had the lunch size pasta and love it. It all came to under $25 with drinks.

I was very impressed with the time it took to get our food, this restaurant has been threw alot, but wow has it stayed busy. The food was hot, fresh, and more then enough. Very customer oriented and very well priced. Keep it up!

We often go here after 11pm for 1/2 price appetizers. We come in a large group and they always cater to us very well. We've never had a poor experience here! Great place for birthdays.

I will never eat at a Crabby Joes again. The service was slow even when there were not that many people there. On top of that I had rocks in my salad and when I asked for a soup as a replacement I was charged for the soup as well as the salad.

So I go to Crabby's a lot with my friends, usually on Tuesdays for wings. On this particular occasion, three other people and myself showed up after the rest of the party had. When we reached the table, there wasn't room for all four of us, so we asked a waitress if we were allowed to move a table over to join up with the people we had made reservations with. Not only did the waitress refuse our request, she did it very rudely. We ended up settling for a table slightly near to everyone else, but nowhere near comfortable conversational distance.
When it came time to order, I got my old standby of artichoke dip, which is usually absolutely delicious. This time however, the "dip" tasted like sour asparagus soup with cheese melted on top. I was unable to finish it it was so disgusting. The chocolate milk was pretty good though, no complaints there.
Overall I was very unimpressed with both service and food, but this is the first time I have ever had a bad experience at Crabby Joe's. Next time I go, I will give it another chance, but if it is as unsatisfying as this experience, I will likely not attend again.

This experience was not very positive. The club sandwich was good but there was only one slice of turkey on the whole sandwich. You could not even tase it. I also ordered a side salad to go with it (I did have the fries with the sandwich). When I got my bill I was shocked to see that the "side salad" I received was $5.99 which was almost as much as my sandwich and fries $6.99. The salad consisted of greens and 3 small slices of tomato, not worth $5.99!! I will definitely think twice about choosing Crabby's again as it was, in this case, not worth the money spent.
