Cafe Ten

This place is located in Festival Square Downtown, on Downie St.

This is a small counter service place with sandwiches, pizza (not the pizza hut tyoe) deserts and coffee. We slipped in for a quick bite Sunday early afternoon. I ordered their soup of the day, a smoked bacon and brocolli and it was great. Wonderful favour apparently home made, pieces of bacon and a piece of crusty bread on the side. GF ordered the pizza of the day....light tomato sauce, grill chicken, basil and mozza chesse on a thin crust. It was about 10". Again it was great.

The inside has a tile floor that was typical of a lot of stores in downtown back in the early part of the last century. Many still have it but have covered in carpet...lord knows why....it looked nice uncovered. Pleasant lighting and nice windows looking out on the street with booths and tables in the cafe. There are additional tables in the center of Festival square as well. The pressd tin cieling gives and nice glow to the place.

The selection of cakes in the display cooler look fabulous and I think we will try a couple slices next time.

Service was pleasant and the place is spotless.....

went there on a saturday afternoon, was quite busy. when we ordered the strawberry cheesecake, the waitress was busy cutting the cake and not taking the money for the order. so we were forced to wait at the counter for approx. 5 minutes. but when the cake arrived, it was all worth it. the cake is marvellous, very yumm. the cappuccino is just a cappuccino. would definitely come again if we were ever in stratford again.
