Boomers Gourmet Fries

I have been a Ken's lover for decades. I remember the old truck parked beside the former "Limelight" on Brunswick St (Limelight....the names of the old guard restaurants in Stratford kill me....now Woody's...another name that makes you wonder if you get something extra inside....but I digress). Ken's has been the place I took visiting friends, people driving through town would detour to pick up a big order of fries here. My kids insist on going to Ken's at least once when ever they are in town. This place has always been the king-pin of French Frydom....That is until recently.....the past while it just hasn't been quite the same. The biggest complaint has to be under cooked fries. This doesn't happen all the time mind you, but enough that the inconsistancy is bothersome.

Boomers is a hole in the wall place. They have been around long enough in this foodie city to know they are now a fixture. There is barely enough room to change your mind, let alone anythng else inside. the fries....consistant. Golden brown, just the right crispness to the outer layer and soft hot and fluffy inside. The prices are more or less the same as Ken's. You can get your fries and head out the door and wander around. so more or less the same as Ken's. That were this fry story diverges. Fries are small medium and large. Just plain and with salt and vinger.....or.... Poutine, Two Cheese Poutine, Italian Poutine, Chilli Cheese Fries, Salsa Fries, Black bean Chilli and cheese fries, Veggy Chilli Fries, Goat Cheese Poutine, Hickory Sticks Poutine fries, Poutine Martini, Sweet Potato Fries, Cosmo Fries.....and Onion rings (one size).

Sue is a funny and great owner, and her burgers were unique and tasty. I especially liked their various flavors of poutine

It's pretty popular among locals, but note there isn't much room to sit inside, so consider takeout or enjoy the nice weather outside :)

I've only been here twice, but both times I was very happy with the food and the service. It is homemade burgers, without all the grease. If you are ever craving a burger, go here instead of a fast food joint where they make your burger in 5 secs and it sucks.
I would definitly go here again, maybe try their other burgers or their salads.

Excellent "grab a bite" food. You won't be disappointed. Make it a yearly visit like we do.

That was the best hamburger and fries we have ever tasted. The (owner woman there was fantastic and friendly and fun. It was clean and very nice We all wished she didn't live so far away we would go at least twice a week if we could maybe more. The very best ever.Just amazing...
