i have been coming to The Egg and I for several years now. I go for breakfast during the week and somwtime a late lunch on the weekend. To be honest there has been some struggle over the past years, but on my recent visit I noticed that things are turning around. This is a family run breakfast place that serve good sized portions for your dollar, with wait staff that do their best to accomadate each customers needs, with in reason. I have never been to a restuarant that will adjust the menu specifications to a customers desire. The place is dated for sure, but the kitchen and service is improving drastically. To get the best food and service, during the week is the best time to go hands down.

What the heck has happened to the egg and I? Over the last 6 months, the place has gone drasticly downhill.
I am an older man, and go to Florida for the Winter / Spring and have just arrived home last week.My wife had the great idea of going to the Egg and I for breakfast. It's horrible. The decor, the food, the service has gone so far downhill, it isn't even funny. The place is absolultely FILTHY! Yet, people go to the Egg and I like it's going out of style.
I went in to The Egg and I and had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated. (This was normal for me)
After being seated, our waitress was promptly with us. It took her 10 minutes to get drinks however. After taking our order and waiting ANOTHER 45 minutes, we got our food. The homefries were huge. My wife did not even like them either. The homefries there were good back in the day. Not anymore.
The "Homefries" are nothing more then potatoes covered in spices. They were cold too.The bacon and eggs were mediocre, which is why I gave the food rating a 2.
Overall, it wasn't a good experience and I will not be returning!
- Order: Bacon, Eggs, Homefries
- Absolutely HORRIFIC!

I went there on Fathers day. We had to wait for 30 minutes.
There were many people that were waiting in the parking lot which usually means that the place is good.BOY WAS I WRONG!
We waited first for 30 minutes to be seated. We had to wait another 40 minutes for the food to come. (I could understand since it was Fathers day)
When the food arrived, the omlette wasn't even cooked properly! I sent it back, and another 30 minutes later the omlette came back. The chocolate milk even tasted weird... When the omlette came back, it wasn't cooked again! At that time, I gave up and walked out. Later that night, I had very bad bowel movements. (Sorry if that sounds odd, but it may have been the food from this resturant)
The manager did nothing to deal with the situation, but asked if they would like a discount on the meal. I just laughed and walked out.
The place is a joke. Never ever eat there. If any employees or managers are reading this, please.. please.. rethink your cooking staff. They are not good, and this experience was not acceptable!
- Order: Greek Omlette, Chocolate Milk. I'm not sure about the other people however

I used to love this place for breakfast. I was down by eastgate, and decided to stop by with my wife for lunch.
I ordered a burger and fries. The fries were cold, undercooked. The burger was over cooked and was average.
The service was slow and horrible. We could hear the cooks talking and everything. The place has fallen apart, which brings me to my next point.
The bathroom hallway is HORRIBLE! It is absolutely filthy!
I will never eat there again!

I've been coming to The Egg and I for over 15 years and I'm a bit sad to say that I will no longer be returning. This place used to have amazing breakfast's and it wasn't even possible to get parking during the morning rush.
I don't know what has happened but everything, from the food, service, and decor has just fallen apart over the last 3-4 years.
Service: The service here has always been spotty at best but 10 minutes to get a drink order, 10 minutes to get your drinks, and then 45 minutes on top of that to get your food is ridiculous.
Food: The food has always been what people came here for and made everything else somewhat tolerable. No longer.
Omellette was completely devoid of any taste. I should not have to salt my eggs to taste anything at all.
Banquet Burger: Came out with cold fries. Burger very average. Over-cooked
Pancakes: Out 9 year old had the pancakes and she seemed to enjoy them. I will give them a few marks for that.
Decor: This place has never been fancy but it now appears to be falling apart. Not to mention that it is absolutely filthy. Also, the hallway that leads to the bathroom "dips" and my wife who was holding our 3 month old baby fell as she stepped into the hall.
Note to staff: When a woman holding an infant falls because of your poorly designed floors, you might want to say sorry or help her up and NOT keep walking by her as if nothing happened.
Will never return.

The best part of the meal itself was the coffee. They have good coffee. Anyways.
We waited for 20 minutes. The waitress did not satisfy our needs. We asked for drinks and we had to wait 15 minutes for her to give my children juice.
The food was discusting. As well as this, I heard the manager yelling at the dishwashers and cooks for most of the time I was eating. It makes me wonder if the employees are treated fairly there and therefore its a reflection of the service and food there. The place is dirty.

We were greeted at the door promptly, with a smile, usally the wait to be seated is longer but today was very good. Our waitress seemed to be very friendly with all of her customers, we were pleased to find out that she treated us the same, not just the customers she knew. She was a shorter woman with short spikey hair and glasses, weve seen her there many of times but never had her serving us personally. It was a pleasure she made it very enjoable, we had a good laugh. The food was very quick to arive at our table and was hot, sometimes we find that it isn't very prompt on sunday mornings.I really have no compliants except the size of the small orange juice. It is a little to small. The difference between smalls and large juices is substantially different. The bathrooms could have been a little cleaner overall our experience was good and we will be returning.
- Order: bacon and eggs with brown toast coffee and small orange juice pancackes with raspberries and large orange juice
